To be honest in my carnivore days, I did prefer a less spicy sweetish taste to my Butter Chicken. stupid:

Any recommendations for the "best" butter chicken to be had in Pune ?

Great, so we note one point for when someone cribs next about their income!

Hotel raviraj on bhandarkar road had good good butter chicken till a year or so ago. Havent tried since, dont know if the hotel still exists

I like Borawke's @ Deccan Gymkhana. They have at least managed to maintain the quality over years.

To be frank, I haven't had really good butter chicken in Pune though some places where it has been better than others are Tareef and Sky Garage. I hear its really good at Prem's too. Never tried though.

Situated at 24th floor in JW Marriott. It provides an excellent ambience and excellent view. Food is equally good.(500 INR for a chicken Biriyani).
They serve the starters and drinks at the open area, main course inside. Give it a try.

Very much!! Just beside that construction, this is an open place. Maynot look good, but tastes good :)
I generally take a parcel from here as I dont like the idea of eating right in the middle of Deccan Gymkhana.

Went to Imdadi Caterers, Ashirwad hall, Camp for a Ramzan feast yesterday night. Well, officially the Shravan season has started and we are not supposed to eat non veg, but who cares when you are in meat lovers heaven!!

They have shifted out of Mominpura into a wedding hall, with seating in the hall and the garden outside.

When you enter, on the left side you see a lavish spread of tandoor chicken, mutton, beef sheekh kababs. Then the stall for gravies with roti, naan and laccha paratha. After that a stall for dalcha, rice, khichada, and biryani. Last but not the least, a stall for dessert, shahi tukda, dudhi halwa, phirni and various faloodas.

You buy plastic coupons, they have various denominations of 5, 10, 20, 50. We bought coupons worth 500. Then you catch a table. A waiter is assigned to your table, you give him the order and coupons and he fetches hot food from all stalls to your table.

Great service, great food, and the separate family section ensured a good ambience. We had Imdadi special tandoor chicken which is actually roasted over an open fire with super tasty masala. Chicken kababs, not so good. Then mutton dalcha with plain rice which was heavenly. Finished off with shahi tukda and couple of pepsis in between.

Damage approx 600 Rs. for two.

Caveats - nothing for veg eaters, not for the faint hearted or those who expect restaurant level cleanliness. But much better than the road side stalls at Shivaji Market.

Have visited Melange on Seasons Hotel rooftop, Aundh, a couple of times. It provides an alfresco ambience that is strangely not too popular in this city of beautiful weather. A tiny pool, cosy seating, backlit tables and happy hours till 8 pm sweetens the deal. Their menu is limited to bar snacks mostly but last time they got us orders from the Italian restaurant downstairs.

Try the Greek salad (green veggies sprinkled with chunky feta cheese)- surprisingly good!

Another place I'd like to recommend is the former All Stir Fry now called Oriental Junction or some such. Fifth floor of the Gordon House Hotel (now called something else as well!) at E Square. It's an all-you-can-eat wok concept where you fill up your bowl with meat/seafood/tofu/paneer, vegetables and a choice of noodles/rice and then hand it to the chef who cooks it with sauces and condiments of your choice. They have a variety of sauces from sweet to hot and you will generally end up with a bowl of pure heaven if you're willing to experiment!

Great Punjab, Koregaon Park. They have a branch at Baner as well. NOT the one near Mahabaleshwar Hotel but further up towards the bypass.

Visted "Hotel Siya" Pure Veg restaurant recently for my brother in law's new job celebrations.
It is a multicuisine hotel located on the city pride kothrud road towards rahul nager.

Valet Service : Four of us drove there in car when it was raining heavily at around 8 pm. They have very good vallet service. The vallet person came with two big umbrellas and escorted all of us undrenched to the hotel. The parking is ample and is located in basement. Overall thumbs up for the care

Ambience : Good ambience. They have sitting area in the first floor and on second floor they have the A/C family area.

Food : We started with sweet corn soup and then ordered couple of sizzlers and one punjabi dish with roti. The portions are really huge. One sizzler can be easily shared between two adults. The food was tasty and everyone appreciated it.
The service was fast

The dishes are also priced reasonable. Sizzlers are around 230Rs and punjabi dishes are around 130Rs.

I would rate 4.5/5 for this restaurant. It is definitely good for family lunches and dinner.

Italy Live is highly recommended. I went there on my marriage anniversary and loved the food. Simple setting but a likable place nevertheless.

Spaghetti Kitchen, in the West block, is way too overpriced when compared to Italy Live and the taste was definitely not worthy the price.

Last week had a chance to visit Shiv Sagar (SS) in Viman Nagar.
Its a newly opened SS branch, and is not a part of the SS chain in Pune. Rather they are a branch of SS from Mumbai ... (quite a few SS's There :D) Loved the vegetarian food and the restaurant had a fairly good ambiance.

Had also visited Fish And Bait in the same Building as SS. The sea food over there was awesome.
