Hmm...Top 5 indian cars, there are quite a few good cars on the road today in india, I remember right before I was leaving for the US, only city and lancer had launched and that was a big thing..now every where you look there are nice cars driving around..I would have to rank them like this...

In affordable range
1. Honda Accord (new)
2. Honda Vtec
3. Lancer
4. CRV
5. Corolla

In a little Expensive range
1. S
2. SL
3. X5 (assuming today you can easily goto any dealer and get it)
4. LX470 (again assuming you can pick a new one with fair ease from any dealer)
5. E (the old one but i love the new from the outside, it is cramped from the inside, atleast i dont feel royal enuf in it, we have the prev gen and that if you sit in, feels like you are in a room, whereas the latest one, seems more like any other lux car, I am not saying the new one is not good, but they should have kept the interior vol the same, giving it the tank/royal feel..its too japanese from inside now..)

cheers

Here we go with my Favs

S 350L - Ultimate in luxury on indian roads

E 270 Cdi - Oil burner that will burn all other indian cars into dust.

C 200K (New Look) - Watch out of this one is a complete bomb! Soon to be launched just within a few weeks, that car looks much sportier and best of all Clear lens head lamps !Looks Killer!

Honda Accord - My faithfull car Even though i am in love with my accord which is the older one,i still envy all the new accord owners But then again my car always has a soft spot.

Ford Endeavour - This is the latest thats made it to garage. I feel in love with the looks for the car that was the main factor that made me choose this over the other SUV's like the CRV etc.Suffers from turbo lag but once the turbo pumps in its on a roll.Very comfortable thnx to the HUGE tyres. And here comes the best part ... the speedo is just 180! and i managed to touch a complete 180 on the expressway last weekend...which is remarkable for a diesel of this size.

Can't believe i missed this one, nevertheless, here they go:(in no particular order)

Palio 1.6 GTX: Hot hatchism redefined, atleast in India, easily outdid my previous favourite the Zen.
Skoda Octavia 1.9 TDi: Looks great, goes great, without burning your fuel money.
Honda City 1.5 VTEC: I'd give up my savings for that engine alone, all this before i've even driven one.
as for the other two spots, i'd like to wait for a little longer. Lots of interesting prospects on the way. especially the Octavia 2.0 Turbo.

Its such an irony. I was thinking about it yesterday, and none of my currently top 5 Indian cars are in production!! Translated - I am going to buy a lot of pre-worshipped cars in the future.

It also indirectly communicates what I think of current designs. Crap, theres just no passion in new age designs. Its all about practicality and for me...practicality can take a hike.

Mine are:

1. The W124 Mercedes Benz E220 - The last of the old school Benzes, 140 odd horses, rides like a tank and built to last forever.

2. Mahindra SWB (short wheel base) Jeeps - Awesome fun to drive, turns heads like no other, supreme off-roaders and very cheap to own and run.

3. Ford Mondeo - The only true drivers car in the D Segment. Fast, amazing looker, razor sharp handling and lots of potential for after-market mods.

4. Honda City Vtec - Need I say anymore?

5. *Palio 1.6 GTX - Revolves around the driver. The definitive hot hatch
