BTW, Anyone eaten at Rangoli? Supposed to be decent according to burrp.

Rangoli @ Saravana Bhavan , Pondy Bazar ? I had a gujju thali and it was alright. 5/10 I would say ( I have got years of experience eating Gujju and Maaru foods in Pune !)

Yes thats the one. Its in the basement of Saravana Bhavan, PondyBazar. Next to the police station. My feedback was just on the thaali. They had a huge alacarte menu too. I did not try that. The starters were yum and so was the jaljeera and phulkas and poori. Not happy with the rest of the food incuding the kichadi they served that day.

I am probably being a bit harsh in my rating ( comparing it to some restaurantsin Pune !). But I suppose food is alright, considering its from a Saravana Bhavan (I mean a northy food from the southy restaurant, like a masala dosa in a punjabhi dhaba !) !

Today i had breakfast at 'Okadeys' - Sangeetha Restaurant neat SIET College. 'Pongal' was excellent, very tasty.

They need to improve a lot on the service though.

Courtesy the Margazhi season I have been having on and off some good food at Narada Gana Sabha provided by Gnambika Catering, the likes of Rava Pongal, Cabbage Bonda Kaasi Alwa etc. Only problem is getting a place to eat, still to taste the thali as every time I go the queue to pick up the tokens seem to take ages to move not to forget the waiting for the table to empty.

there is a small biryani shop opposite ford showroom in arumbakkam. they have the best biryani i have eaten.

The best Sambar Sadam I ate in Adyar Ananda bavan in Velachery. A good nethili fish fry was in Anjappar in Velachery, The evening tiffin was in Hotchips in Velachery Baby nagar area.

The reason why the Rava Pongal tasted good could be the famishing music that you would have been listening to in these great sabhas. Bring on the 70s & 80s rock, I don't need food. If Music be the food of love, play on, to quote someone.

Benji, haven't you tried Sanabel ? From my 20 yrs in A.Nagar surroundings, Sanabel has not been beaten yet. It is in the 3rd Avenue, just below the BSNL office. No eating there.

Have you tried the great mogul briyani, in the adjacent lane behind ega thetre.

There is actually an mogul restaurant, do not go there, a few building away from the restaurant, you have this small shop, 'great mogul briyani', only selling and no dining. superb briyani.

There is a thalapakattu biriyani shop near St.Thomas mount and one near ullagaran (Near madipakkam). I frequent both these places. They serve very good Chicken Biriyani.

Last saturday I went to Quality Rivera at adayar. The food was pathetic. I ordered a Butter chicken masala and what i got was some chennai gravy kind of taste with chicken pieces and topped with butter. This place used to be good for butter chicken and now i felt too bad to visit this place.

Do any of you guys remember Hotel Traffic Jam near Ambika applam in adayar. Thats my favourite hangout place. The hotel is closed for some time but the food they serve used to be so good. I love the Butter chicken masala with butter Nan that they serve.

There used to be a kayyendhi shop outside Milan Hotel Velachery. You can get awesome Egg dosas and Set dosas.

Guys how is the new hotchips opened in Velachery, tharamani road? Did any one try that place yet.
