Re: Constructing a new farmhouse | Complete greenfield project

Two words - LOVE IT!

The pics look like they are from some five star resort! I can almost imagine how relaxing it must be to be in a place like this, far from the madding crowd! The swimming pool and the deck look fantastic! Two thumbs up!

Would you mind sharing details as to the cost of setting up a place like this? Even a ballpark figure would help.

Now that the main part is complete, I hope attention now shifts to the outside work. Again, endless opportunity. By seeing how tastefully the house construction is done, we are sure even the outside gardening will be equally good.
More the greenery, more the connection with nature.
Just waiting for the rains but that is not something I have a lot of knowledge in. An expert has been appointed and he has asked me to wait for the rains.

The roof is not designed for Solar panels on purpose. There is so much open space that it would be easier to install and maintain solar system on the ground.

The total plot size is 2.5 odd acres and the footprint of the house is 2000 sq.ft plus the patio and pool.

Cost to me for the basic structure is in the ball park of 2500 per sq.ft + the interiors + White goods + pool and land development. In this the huge contributing factor was transport and logistics. Getting certain skilled workforce from Mumbai did add on the cost.

Great on two counts. First and more important is that you could do it what most of us are still dreaming about and secondly the simple but tastefully designed house. Congratulations!!

Beautiful location and simple yet practical with all amenities and fixtures for a 5 star living with all the peace you can get in this dream home of yours, worth all the effort Bro. I too long to have such a place, let's see how it goes.

Wish you the very best and enjoy the peace and quiet surroundings which we city dwellers long for.

Happy living and Driving too.

In my opinion… it’s a beautiful house for urban setting… but it just doesn’t blend into the surroundings for a farm house.

Amazing! As someone already said in one of the posts, you've done what most of us have only been dreaming of!

I'm wondering how do you manage utilities - electricity, broadband/internet, etc. at this remote site?

Thank you. Utilities was a challenge. The Electricity pole was far away had to pay MSEB for 3 poles and 3 phase connection. Broadband is via a 4.5 km long giga fiber cable technology. Internet Downtime and speed so far is better than my Mumbai connection. Water is via 3 bore wells with 2 of them at 550 feet deep and one at 750 feet. Garbage disposal is a challenge, all the plastic is brought back by me for disposal and the rest goes in a pit.

Thank you. Pandemic has taught me one thing, if you can do it today don't push it to tomorrow.

Kudos on a well-executed project, and a well-earned break from urbania.

Re: Constructing a new farmhouse | Complete greenfield project

Congratulations tazmaan for envisaging this beautiful home , and executing it to perfection. And big thumbs up for doing this in the stipulated time frame. Considering the difficulties in logistics and skilled labour required to carry out this task , it’s even more commanding.

The house looks warm and welcoming. And I’m sure (looking at the eye for aesthetics and attention to details) , the surrounding area will only add to its beauty .

Wish you and your family have a great time at this place.

P. S.
Don’t want to bump into your thread, but I would also give a sneak peak into a small traditional house , that I’m in the process of building, in my native. Please suggest a suitable thread for the same.

Cheers

Thank you. The process of planting trees have started. Cannot wait for the trees to transform the plot but here unlike the construction will have to be patient with nature to take its course over the years.

Please start a new thread and DM me if you need any inputs.

Update:

Have been living here now for over a month. This is reverse migration, I go twice a week to Mumbai for work and kick my self every time I get there. But with the kids school starting from July this will our last week here before we pack up and go back to the madness. It will take some time to adjust to city life.

Time here is slow but full of quality. The kids have learned swimming and go under water and fetch coins. The dogs Max (Female) and Turbo (Male) have grown big and now guard the house. Just adopted a Kitten and named him Brownie. The pets have added a new energy to the farm.

It has been raining on and off and I can see the landscape changing color. The greens have started sprouting. The Isuzu is serving us well and has fit in with farm duties with ease.

We have had more social life here than we had in Mumbai. Friends and Family come over for the weekend and we spend few days unlike in Mumbai where a get to gather is a couple of hours of dinner or lunch. This has been the best part of sharing the joy.

Some pictures as an update.

Added a BBQ bough from Ikea
