@ Mclaren - refer the title of the thread - how can people who are sleeping annoy you ? It should be - Do you get annoyed by passengers sleeping when you drive ?
Ahem, I guess that is what I meant. And by the time I decided to change the title the edit caption was gone.

God - I am reading too much of Sam's proper English thread - time to go and wash my face. I am out of here.

Well people who are sleeping can annoy you by means of snoring . So there you are, the title is perfectly OK.

Poor Gautam, he thought he could get away with that, just by quoting Sam's thread... rather blaming it on Sam.

Although it doesn't annoy me, I normally don't prefer passengers sleeping in the car. I think it's somewhat dangerous in emergency braking situations.

edit - why does the poll have check boxes, instead of radio buttons ?

Shuvc, thats so you can also vote on both.
Radio buttons limit it to a single choice.

Let me add a few.

Resting their legs on the dashboard.
Resting their legs on the driver's armrest (rear seat passengers in an attempt to stretch their legs).
Resting their leg on the gear lever.
Falling over onto the driver's side.

A sleeping person can annoy you... by sleeping.

I was going to say that a dead person could not --- but then I thought that even an inanimate object can be annoying!!!!

Haa haa haaa... you tell me about it. The first time I read it I thought asking McL whether he wants the thread title changed to 'Do you find it annoying if passengers sleep when you drive' or some such thing. And then chucked the idea withthe thought to ask Sam to stop posting those proper english stuff on that thread.

Almost like a relative of mine. He does not drive a car but likes to always sit next to the driver and then starts his passive driving. Take a little left, Brake now, Shift gears. Bloody such a pain it becomes at times.

I'd stop and invite him into the driver's seat.

Or invite him to consider another car to travel in.

Relative or not.

On the other hand...

I make it a rule never to complain when people say stuff like, "have you seen that bike?" Just in case I haven't. As long as their not panicky or doing it all the time.

It just might save a life!

Snore while I drive, and I'll step on the brakes like I was 10ft away from a tree!! Drool all over the place, and I'll kick you out of the car while its in motion!

On a serious note, its really dangerous when people sleep off in the car. They are the 1st ones to experience the maximum limit of whiplash in case of an amergency. Since they aren't aware of their surroundings, the body can only react by continuing in its inertia- hence some serious damage to the spine.
I remember reading about an accident that happened in Dallas few years ago.4 occupants driving at night,3 were dozing. The driver's attention got diverted while changing a CD,and he happened to slow down.A semi behind him couldn't stop in time and rammed his car at 70mph.The jolt was so hard that the 3 passengers suffered extreme whiplash, and 2 died on the spot. The 3rd guy suffered a consussion, and recovered.
Well.. just an example of the disadvantages of falling asleep in the car.We can't help it,but hope that nothing untoward happens while we sleep.
