Zahed,
Our helpful folks have already contributed so many things, so I will try not repeat. Based on my experience these are something I have realised with my/my friends experience:

1. Family play room to keep kids busy with some games, nice old books, few DVDs etc to while away time.

2. One resort had a children care taker (usually the care taker or the cook) so that couples can spend some time alone in the serene area

3. In this internet age, basic website is essential

4. Bon Fire with free snacks in the evening, may be weekly event. You can even arrange a local folk dance or story session etc. This will help build relationship.

5. Follow-up after they leave your resort, like Hi cards or cards on occasions or monthly newsletter helps people remember you and also know you care. This will help you a great deal with word of mouth advt

6. Few sigh seeing options

Hope it helps!

hi madbullram.thanks for the suggestions.

1.i will try to build a playroom and if i cant i will provide basic games so that kids can play them in the hall/veranda (the veranda outside is a 20 x 16 structure)

2.iam sure the cook can double up as a nanny to allow the parents to spend some time alone.

3.ya website is needed and i will start the process as soon as a name is decided.

4.we will be having a place for bon fire.i will try to arrange for local folk dance/culture if i can get hold of it.

5.i had already thought of the follow up plan.i intend to keep a guest book using which i will make a call or send a thank you note later on.

6.sight seeing is plentiful.and for our very own tbhp members i may even lend my 4x4 jeep if they wish to explore around.

your suggestions definitely helped.thanks a lot

Why don't you try METRO in Bangalore? There must be someone you know that can get stuff from there. I think many of the items you want are available in bulk in METRO.

I would suggest that you visit it and check out the stuff and prices there.

Cheers,

Zahed,

If you havent finalized the name yet,
you can post photos of the Homestay and general surroundings, that might give a clue what name would suit.

Naming it some xxx Stream, when actually there is no stream on campus wouldnt make sense.

Just my 2 cents.

Thanks, but can't we just visit without being intimate? I don't mind paying the regular hotel charges.

Zahed,

I think you should have a home stay modelled and named on F1 theme. Name it Coorg Formula 1, Race track or Pit stop or any other attractive names.

Choose the F1 theme across your resort. F1 Car /celebrety photos in each of the rooms, Old F1 races on DVD for entertainment of Guests, have F1 theme in the restaurant and Bar (Model cars etc.)

If you have some space you should also have a go karting track built and have two or three go karting cars kept for entertainment of guests.

This idea would have lot of takers on this forum. Also it would be your good tribute to team-bhp.

hey abhijit i did want to post photos of the place but the problem is my digicam got stolen and both my phone's dont have good camera clarity.right now am highly inclined towards COFFEE CREEK as suggested by one of our thbpians.there is a stream which turns into a mini river during the monsoons.it has even carved out a small beach like area where u can soak in the sun and play in the flowing water.

lol.if iam not mistaken there are 2 meanings to the word intimate.
one of them is an adjective which means "getting close or private" and the other is a verb meaning "to inform indirectly".

i would love to do something on those lines dieselfan but iam really not sure that i would have too many takers for it except a few tbhpians.it would add a lot of noise with all the engines and all while my intention is to make a calm peaceful home for guests who just want to relax.a theme resort may work in cities but it surely wont work in a silent sleepy place like coorg.what i could do is maybe arrange for some offroading for our tbhp members and guests in my jeep somewhere close by.

ok guys i thought i would ask from one more query here.the plan for he cottages is almost done.
A single cottage would consist of 2 rooms side by side with independent dressing and bathroom. We were thinking of having a common entrance into the cottage via a common hall and then have separate doors to each room.I thought I would ask our tbhpians for their views on this now.
Would you prefer having two rooms with a common hall but independent doors to each room or would it be better to have two separate rooms with separate entrances side by side minus the common hall.

For those who dint get what iam saying, the two rooms would be side by side with independent entrances to the rooms.iam asking if you would prefer a common hall to both rooms or no hall at all.

Also guys i really thought I would get a few more name suggestions from tbhpians but hardly any participation here since a long time.i need a name for the place asap.I had wanted to keep it a surprise for the person who gave the chosen name but I guess with hardly any participation I have to reveal it.The person who comes up with the selected name would be my guest at the resort.He/she would be entitled for a couple stay for 2nights and 3 days.I hope atleast this would motivate us all to come up with some really nice names apart from those already suggested.

Regards,
Zahed

i would suggest the idea without the hall. Eliminating the hall would give more space in the rooms. Also i prefer privacy. The hall thing will propogate sounds (you know!!) to the next room.
