Actually it is O -ve that is the "universal donor". It is called thus, because, it is compatible with any blood type ie. in case of emergency, blood belonging to this group can be given to any of the other group people. Similarly AB+ is universal recipient type because a person who has it can receive blood of any type.

Although “universal donor” and “universal recipient” types are occasionally used to classify blood in an emergency, blood type tests are always done to prevent transfusion reactions.

A chart What Blood Type Can Donate Blood to Me? that could be useful in emergencies is available at : http://www.bloodbook.com/type-facts.html

As the chart indicates, O- types are quite at risk in accidents / emergencies as they can be given ONLY O- blood.

Time to revive this thread.

A relative of Viper may need A+ve blood. He is here in Mumbai. Aside from those already mentioned here, are there any others who would like to join the T-BHP Blood donor list?

If we are able to see who all belong to those group under the percentage number ,that would some purpose ,or you want a person to read all the pages to find who has that group and near to him.

RR.. there's no way of changing this poll once it's been started.
The only alternative is to delete this thread and re-start the Poll..
