A total disappointment I must say Extraction was. None of the guys could give any expression, the action was mediocre, to say the least, and the overall story/concept didn't just fit. The B' deshi drug lord's acting and him being chosen for the role was just pathetic, even a tree would act and look better than him I guess.

Meet the Patels: 4 / 5
If you are Gujarati or close (or aware of) to Gujarati customs, this is a movie to watch! A seemingly true(ish) story of an American actor, Ravi Patel, in a very-documentarish style of movie making, tells the story of how he went through the various 'rituals' and processes of Patel-kingdom marriage industry, across India and US.
The best part of the movie is the typical Gujarati family and network; the movie doesn't let down on how the Indian diaspora tries to be a more deciding factor during the process of arranged marriages. Give it a watch for sure - you wouldn't know where the ~2 hours went!

This came out of the post-movie googling when we were done with the previous movie; apparently while Meet The Patels had such a high RT rating, a similar movie that had even higher rating was The Big Sur; which again was a true-ish movie story of a Pakistani actor Kumail Nanjiani and his love story with his current wife Emily Gordon.
The movie is well made, supported by some superb set of actors - a highly under-utilized Anupam Kher, the excellent Ray Romano and a few others. Unlike the previous movie with its varying and changing locations and characters, this movie deals with the nuances of mis-understandings and differences between Kumail and the rest of the cast (both families).
It's interesting to see what a good marketing budget does for a movie though, as both similar movies have had different outcomes at the box office (~$2Mn vs ~42Mn). Also, this one's available on Amazon Prime too. A good watch if you have time to spare. However, if you had to pick one of these two, I'd say Meet The Patels, by a mile.

1. Joker (3/5): 2.5 star rating only for the superb acting of Joquin, rest of the movie was a disappointment. Usually I like slow burners if the director is able to keep you involved. This movie purely runs on acting prowess of the lead character. Background score is brilliant though.
2. Aladdin (3/5): I am always lenient towards movies made for children (considering how stupid and in many cases downright bad influence the TV cartoon channels are making it these days) and it sure would be liked by children.
3. The shape of water (3.5/5): A beautifully made movie. I quite liked the greenish hues used generously which are a good contrast to the few romantic scenes laced with hues of red. Brilliant cinematography, good plot.
Watched Extraction, a good one time watch movie. Special mention to Hand to Hand combats & close gun fights. If you like them, you will like this movie.

Bleeding Steel (2017) - starring Jackie Chan.
Watched this movie on Amazon Prime Video. It's a Jackie Chan kind of movie but has lesser action compared to his earlier ones. Kind of Science Fiction and vfx also. One time watch for Jackie Chan fans.
Saw Sergio - a Wagner Moura starring Docu-Drama of a UN representative- Sérgio Vieira de Mello. I had seen another documentary on him but the since this Netflix release had Wagner Moura (of Pablo Escobar Fame) in it, I had to see. Quite disappointing to see Wagner wasted completely in this very loosely stitched script. Neither does it tell about the Iraq episode properly nor about his successes in previous assignment. definitely avoidable.
Saw the Pedro Alonso starring El Silenco Del Pantano. Pedro's performance in money heist was outstanding and hence I gravitated to seeing this movie on Netflix. Could've avoided. Another great actor wasted. Since this is a sorta suspense movie, I'd rather not say more about the plot. it just could've been anybody in that role.

You should watch Togo on Hotstar. Very well shot and a wonderful storyline as well. It was initially launched on Apple TV so I was waiting to watch it on Hotstar. Was well worth the wait :)

"Studi Ghibli" does Japanese Animation for the younger viewers, but is equally exciting for some of the older folks. If you have children at home, please do watch some of his (hayao miyazaki) movies with them.

A heart warming movie involving racing and a dog. Must watch if you're a fan of Dogs and racing.
The Call of the Wild (2020): 4/5
Inspired from the book itself. Starring Harrisons Ford and a CGI dog. Great sceneries and story. The movie is not as great as the book though.
Togo
A true story of a Sledge dog from 1925. Inspiring and informative. Lovely affection shown by the dog. Must watch for Dog lovers.

Where did you watch this? Another friend recently recommended me this movie as one of the "must watch". She has three dogs (beagle, pitbull, boxer) at home though and absolutely adores them.
