Man, you are good! The scene was so striking, I still remember it vividly. I watched the movie in India International Film Festival, 1987, in New Delhi. That edition had a retrospective of John Schlesinger's movies. I also got to watch Midnight Cowboy in that fest.

One of my favourite Gangster scenes ever!

-You're a pistol, you're really funny. You're really funny.
-What do you mean I'm funny?
- It's funny, you know. It's a good story, it's funny, you're a funny guy.
-what do you mean, you mean the way I talk? What?
-It's just, you know. You're just funny, it's... funny, the way you tell the story and everything.
-Funny how? What's funny about it?
-He's a big boy, he knows what he said. What did ya say? Funny how?
-Jus...
-What?
-Just... ya know... you're funny.
-
You mean, let me understand this cause, ya know maybe it's me, I'm a little f*cked up maybe, but I'm funny how, I mean funny like I'm a clown, I amuse you? I make you laugh, I'm here to f*ckin' amuse you? What do you mean funny, funny how? How am I funny?
-Just... you know, how you tell the story, what?
-No, no, I don't know, you said it. How do I know? You said I'm funny. How the f*ck am I funny, what the f*ck is so funny about me? Tell me, tell me what's funny!
-.........

-Get the f*ck out of here, Tommy!
-Ya motherf*cker! I almost had him, I almost had him. Ya stuttering prick ya. Frankie, was he shaking? I wonder about you sometimes, Henry. You may fold under questioning.

P.S.: Excuse the language, but it's a classic scene!

Thanks.

I watched the DVD version a couple of years ago. It's not a very easy-to-forget scene, is it?

While we're still doing Gangster movies...:

1. I always tell the truth. Even when I lie.

2. All I have in this world is my balls and my word and I don't break them for no one.

The first of Tony Montana's lines was used as tagline in some obscure movie a few years ago.

Really? I didn't know that. But I doubt it would have been as effectively used as it was by Al Pacino!

Beau-tiful thread.

It would be fun to guess the movie from the tagline as well. For example, "Watch history in the making" was the tagline of Titanic. Can we include this as well?

Guess the movie: "Everybody loved him. Everybody disappeared."

Should be Jerry Maguire.

- I've been looking for you for 8 months. Whenever I should have had a gun in my right hand, I thought of you. Now I find you in exactly the position that suits me. I had lots of time to learn to shoot with my left.

According to my Dad, yes. I don't remember watching it in a theater though: was too young. Dad used to take me to the movies every week ever since I could be carried around: There was a theater called Sridhar here in Kochi which used to show only English movies (till about 4 years back when they grrrrr... started showing Hindi & Mallu movies mostly). Dad says I was the only kid who would never make a sound when the movie was running. My nursery teacher used to complain to my Mom every so often about my telling stories of the movies to the others in class.

I've watched The Good, The Bad, The Ugly (and all of Clint Eastwood's other westerns) many many times since over the years -- enough to remember a lot of it scene by scene. Dad is a die-hard western movie fan and will watch a western as many times as you want without getting bored. I was the same too, till about the time I finished school.
