I had a similar point as Axe77 but I am guessing by 'investing' you meant emotional, etc. Not financial. It goes without saying, watches are just like cars. They are a depreciating asset but (the difference is) they last a lifetime and you can truly pass it on to your next generation. Therefore, investing in a watch in a strictly non-financial form makes sense. Otherwise, Omega and most other brands lose value pretty fast.
Having said that, there are few brands such as Rolex, Patek and few other ultra luxury brands that have managed to hold value. Again - this is purely based on creating a short supply and more demand for these watches. Since 2016-17, the craze for some of these watches have gone up so much especially amongst the young buyers (mainly Western markets, Dubai, etc.) that some of the watches retail above their list price. This has led to people seeing these watches as investments and has further aggravated the phenomena.
Regardless, go for the Omega. You can also look at the Omega Moonwatch / Speedy if you liked Breitling.

I liked the "invest" part. Many people overlook this.
My vote is for the Omega too. |

Another vote for the Seamaster. You may look at the Speedmaster too but personally, I didn't find it that impressive on the wrist. |

Another vote for the Omega. I really do quite like several Breitling too but as an only and first luxury watch and between these two, it’s the Omega I’d pick. Looks classier and less busy too IMO
Neither is the sort that will hold or appreciate in value over time. |

Thank you all for your suggestions. It really helped and make my decision easier. I will close it out today with Omega Planet Ocean.
I did check on Speedmaster, but anything in 42 mm did not look good on my hand. The bigger ones in Speedmaster are above my budget. This itself is a stretched budget.
On the invest part, I did not mean buying it as an investment. This one is going to be a keeper and for passing on. However I am hoping Omega to loose lesser value in future, just in case a situation arise. Not expecting a profit here :-)
Thanks again all, will update post purchase.

I already have a G-Shock which I use on board. The F91W is just for nostalgic value. It's the default watch every seafarer has to get when coming out to sea. I had not done that. Came on board with a HMT Janata. Then I picked up a Casio DB-31 Databank Telememo 30 from the Botlek Store inside Rotterdam Port.
So got the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 43.5 mm. Thank you all for the suggestion, super happy with the purchase.

Looks great, sunikkat. Black dial has it's own charm. Best wishes!

Could you share the pricing details if you are comfortable? And what's the discount offered?
I'm looking at the seamaster 42mm.
Got the Casio Edifice ED634 recently. This blue colored dial looks way better in person than in photos. Build quality is really good and feels very premium on the wrist.

You can find the MRP in Ethos website for all watches, including Rolex. I got a 12% off on MRP after a lot of bargaining. At one stage I was ready to walk out as they were not going more than 12% but finally bought it. So if your bargaining skills are better, you might get a better deal. Or it also depends on dealers. I found Ethos to be better than Zimson on price negotiations in Bangalore.
42mm Sea Master MRP starts from 5.8 lakhs.

Finally got my hands on the F-91W (Or should I say "Got the F-91W on my hand"). The parcel arrived yesterday. The watch does feel a bit too small.
