Your HMT Collection I would just love to see sometime. Pure nostalgia.

Here you go HMT Janata and HMT Kalinga. Janata is hand-wound and Kalinga is Automatic.

For the sake of nostalgia.

Wow. The Janata looks so like a Nomos Glasshutte!
Absolutely classic design with the right level of colour pop with the red second hand.

It's been a long while that I had been hunting for a reliable & reasonable horologist in Delhi to repair some special hand-wound watches, and finally found one by chance. He managed to repair this watch with a 14k gold case, which belonged to my maternal grandmother. Many other watch repairers had said earlier that it cannot be repaired. The bill, too, was much less than I expected. I'm now hoping he manages to procure a crystal to replace the original one that has developed micro-cracks.

Hi sir,
Can you please share the details of this watch repair guy for other NCR folks like me?

His name is Mobeen, and he works out of a little shop in RK Puram Sector 8. You can call him on 98116 51040.

A snapshot of global sales, market share and average retail price per watch sold of the top 50 Swiss watch brands in 2023. You can also get somewhat of an idea of the retail margin based on these figures.

I always thought Omega was the market leader, never thought Rolex would have such a commanding share - selling 1.2 million pieces every year at a retail ASP of CHF 12k is just staggering. Also given their sales are 100% wholesale, means the demand for it is probably much higher than the supply?

Thanks for sharing. If anything it also shows you should not buy a Rolex if you want exclusivity. Going by these numbers just about any punter will wear a Rolex these days.

Currently here in the west the Rolex and a few other shops are mostly empty. It is almost impossible to buy the high runners. Lots of these shops will take orders but they won’t stock the actual watch. They watches they do stock are demos without the actual clock mechanism, so just the case and strap!

Couple of other brands are the same. Brands such as Rolex are moving to Rolex exclusive stores only. Similar to what we have seen in the high end automotive trade. Your typical jeweller carrying a multitude of high end watches is becoming a thing of the past.

How much was it. Even I got mine last month for 48K in Bangalore.

If you don't mind, which store in Bangalore? I've been eyeing the same model for a while now, will probably take the plunge this month.

I got it from Helios HSR 27th main. There's a sales guy Lalit there who got me the discount and arranged for the watch which was not in stock.

I'm not a watch enthusiast but I've got my modest collection of 3 G-Shock. A GA 2100 1A1DR, a GW 9400 rangeman and a GBD H2000.

Another watch I inherited from my father was brought back to life by Mobeen. In an era (early 1970s) when thin watches weren't common, Favre Leuba made this hand wound mechanical watch. The crystal had broken once and was replaced with a non-original one, which made the side profile of the watch a little thicker, but still appreciably thin.

Most Rolex watches sold are the non SS versions. For the Submariner line, numbers were published in their recent book.

All screenshots can be found here. Posting one for reference -

Folks on Reddit factored in the delay in delivery during Covid and the numbers in the book being at least 6 months stale.
So the calculations are the following:The U.S. would get a big chunk of this followed by Europe. Per AD numbers would be much lower for Asia and Africa. On the bright side - 3 temporary factories are being started in 2025 and a massive billion dollar factory should be ready by 2029.
