Team-BHP - Suggestions for Team-BHP from Team-BHPians

I have noticed that car manufacturers like Ford, Tata keep on shuffling/removing the features from their cars, keeping the version name same. Can we have a dedicated forum which will simply enlist a car's versions in the first post, and then as and when new features are added/deleted, the follow up posts will highlight those changes. For example:

Ford Ecosport - launched Nov 2017.
Mar 2018 - Added S version
Nov 2018 - Removed flat folding seats
Feb 2019 - Added color MID to all versions
May 2019 - Removed cruise control/leather seats etc from Titanium +

This will help users to gauge whether they are getting better products, or they are simply being fleeced. Above months may be wrong, I have stated them just as an example.

Additionally, there was a video where the video maker has compared seat lengths of different cars. This is the slide of interest:

Team-BHP could consider incorporating these measurements in their review, rather that simply saying on the lines of 'car is best fitted for 2 at the rear, even though third person can be squeezed in.'

When someone quotes my post, I get a PM that I have been quoted. If the person who quoted me is a new member, his post does not show up until it is approved by a moderator. For such cases, the PM that says "You have been quoted" can be triggered when a moderator approves that post rather than when the post is submitted! With the current implementation, many times I read the PM, click to see the post and it's not there and then I forget about it because that PM is no more "Unread". I assume the triggers are easily configurable(?)

Thanks!

Why is it necessary for a member to re-answer the question about your favorite policy and car when they try to modify the information on the profile page.

I just need to update the car i own and it does not allow without filling the above 2 questions.

Thanks

I am facing the same issue too. I have not been able to update my profile. My car remains the same that it was when I joined.

This is the first I'm hearing of this.

How slow is it to load (in seconds) compared to the forum homepage?

When you became a member, we only had a few profile fields.

Some time after that, we added a few more compulsory fields, the contents of which are part of our membership approval process.

When you edit your profile, the software then sees those new compulsory fields (which are empty), and doesn't let you save.

FIX: Just enter any gibberish filler in those compulsory fields about "Which policy?" etc. They aren't re-evaluated, and they aren't visible on your profile either.

Since you've already filled those fields while applying for membership.

Strange. Could you try clearing your cookies (make sure you choose "from the beginning of time" or the longest duration) and let me know if that fixes it?

^ Will let GTO reply to these two.

Have made a note of this for the next time we are making improvements to the forum.

Thanks!

www.team-bhp.com = load time now is 33s32ms
www.team-bhp.com/forum = load time is about 2 secs.

All these were done in incognito mode

Thanks

Agree with Astonite. I simply avoid using the homepage and just go to teambhp.com/forum. I've always assumed that it's like this due to the homepage being extremely picture-heavy and the forum page having little to no photos (only a few member galleries on top).

I have a shortcut that takes me directly to the forum/usercp. This lists out my subscribed threads first. From there I browse to the new threads/new posts.

WHOA :Shockked::Shockked:

I can assure you that isn't the case for most visitors.

Can you tell me:
1) Was this mobile, desktop, or both?
2) Are you on an office/corporate connection? (ie. behind some kind of firewall)
3) How did you measure these times?

Could you please do the following:
1) Open Chrome, hit F12 and click the 'Network' tab on the top of the window that just opened
2) Back in the browser tab, visit www.team-bhp.com
3) After the site loads completely, share a screenshot of the loading info from the Network tab (like below). Make sure it is sorted by 'waterfall'

Attaching F12 results below.
  1. I am facing this in desktop
  2. Office network - so yeah, firewall
  3. Originally did a stop watch count from the time of hitting the URL till it loads completely

Tried another and attached the HAR file for reference

If I had to guess based on the info provided so far, your office firewall is blocking/delaying/scanning the Javascript files for some reason.

Try this to temporarily disable JS and see if it speeds things up:

Go to "Site Settings"
Name: ssCapture.PNG
Views: 484
Size: 81.3 KB

Turn off JavaScript.

Reload the page.

Does that speed things up significantly?

Don't forget to turn it back on after this test (else some features on the site will not work)!

Also, could you scroll down the waterfall and see where exactly this huge delay is happening:

Tried it and learnt that the problem comes back only when I clear RAM after closing Chrome.

This is the screenshot taken at 13:19 after I had read all replies:

Closed browser. Cleared browser from recent apps. Rechecked at 13:20 and same replies are marked as unread:

The delay is because of one javascript all.js. Please find the image below.
This points to https://connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js - now I guess I know the reason. Facebook is blocked in our organization which could cause this. But I am not sure about the need of this but it keeps trying for 30+ sec stopping the rest of the page from loading :Frustrati.

Checked using hotspot - works fine. Guess I reported too early but it would be great if you could do something about it to let us use our free time effectively lol:

I see that you're using Chrome AdBlock extension. If you use uBlock Origin (or even uMatrix, but that's not for everyone) instead, you can block resources from specific sites on specific domains (facebook.net can be blocked on team-bhp.com alone). Chrome AdBlock may have it too, but Ive not used it much to be sure. You can check if that method works.

theredliner, thank you very much. Works perfect clap:.

For others facing the same issue, please follow the steps below
Realized my Adblock was blocking teambhp's site as well, have removed the same! :thumbs up
