We routinely see car comparison polls here, whenever a new and interesting car is launched.

However, as well all know - our poll results are regularly off the mark when compared to actual reality in the market. For example, Endeavor V/S Fortuner. As auto enthusiasts, we always pick cars based on both - mind and heart. But the market doesn't. Hence our poll results differ from what the market is following or doing.

So a suggestion - Why no include Market Stats / Sales figures for all such cars in the Poll information itself or in the results page. This will give a view of the market too, whenever I see the poll results.

Recently, several of my online accounts were compromised including that of TeamBHP and I was consequently banned (rightly so as my hacked account was used to post questionable content). Since then, I have enabled 2Factor Authentication (2FA) wherever possible and changed passwords on affected accounts. A word of caution to all members - please enable 2FA wherever possible, use longer passwords (around 12-16 characters) or phrases that you can remember and use special characters. Hacking/Phishing are getting incredibly sophisticated and even if you don't have a noticeable online presence like me, you are just one hack away from losing much more than access to websites. I am very appreciative of TeamBHP Admin support in this regard and would like to thank them for restoring my account promptly. I truly hope this never happens again (or to anyone else on the forum for that matter). And this brings me to a suggestion for the forum: Is it at all possible to enable 2FA for TeamBHP forum?

I gotta ask why was the 'TeamBHP & Pets' thread moved to digital graveyard of team-bhp?

This is one of the most heart warming and loving thread amongst 100 others being discussed in Shifting Gears which is where this rightfully belongs. I mean come on we have mental health thread going on strong there but this one topic which helps tremendously in mental health issue is here, pushed out of limelight and "hot" area.

I don't know if this is intended behaviour or a bug. But, back when I used to have a mac, I would airdrop pictures from my phone to it. They used to come in a HEIC format. Whenever I uploaded them to T-BHP they would get converted to JPG, but the file name would change.
For example:

HEIC file name is gear-1, the name will change to 1
HEIC file name is steering-1, the name will change to 1 again and replace all other 1 (name of the file).

This caused me a lot of trouble when writing a review for our car, I spent a lot of time changing names and rearranging photos.

I haven't tried it on another mac (I don't have another one). So, I don't know if this is an isolated incident or general behaviour.

Does this happen to anyone else?

@admins, are we allowed to post sale of car accessories in this thread ?

This is a cool usability enhancement (I think Reddit has it too... though doesn't seem to always work!#!@).

It's on our long-term list of enhancements.

Imagine if teambhp offered a car compare feature where a casual browser can browse and compare upto 9-10 cars. ... We can do it much better and we can also create many new parameters and filters for such evaluation.

Most DEFINITELY keen on doing this, along with a ton of other cool & unique features. However it's a mega-project... Hope to get the chance to execute it soon.

Imo it would be tough updating each car’s spec sheet as and when they delete/add features. Also, the number of variants available today are equally confusing to keep track on.

Very true, and all the more reason why we need to solve it with an accurate & up to date reference point for the consumers :)

As GeneralJazz has replied to you; the round red icon is the answer to this, but I will say I do hope to modify it make it more obvious on the Desktop skins, like I had done on the Smartphone skin.

Interesting suggestion... added to our list.

We try to prevent the use of these, as there are some compatibility issues. Sorry might have missed your earlier query about them!

Rather than a persistent top-bar, one that re-appears as soon as you start to scroll upwards would probably be the preferred solution. Will consider doing this if we ever re-visit Infinite Scrolling (ie. to make it also infinite-scroll upwards, etc)

Can we add a button/link to see all the replies to a specific post?

Hmm... good suggestion.

We actually, once upon a time, did have a "Threaded" view mode, instead of "Linear". Kind of like Reddit.

Have added it to my list, and will see if there's an easy way to solve what you've asked for.

One downside is that not all replies actually quote the post.

In the "Search Forums" dropdown box - can we:

- If "search titles only" is selected, then default to "show threads"
- If it is not selected, then default to "show posts"

Very interesting suggestion! Added to our vBulletin improvements/tweaks list.

Another couple of suggestions that relate to the 10-second cool-off period for sequential searches:

1. Can we dispense with it for sequential clicks on "New Posts" and "New Topics"?
2. Also when the previous search didn't produce any results?

Have tried this in the past, but it gets quite complex. Will try to revisit it, or perhaps allow different time-outs for Guests vs Logged-in Members.

Will attempt this if/when we do re-visit the Infinite Scroll feature. This is Thad's #1 request too :coldsweat

Select text, choose from quote or quote+: yes, this works very well on more modern forum implementations. Would be lovely to have it here.

You have given me the prompt for a quick moan! ;)

I cannot understand why reverse scrolling was not a priority, or even done at the same time, as forward scrolling. If I could have just one UI change here it has to that. In fact, I can happily live with the whole thing just as it is and only really want that!

Perpetual forward scrolling is the one thing in which T-BHP is ahead of all the other forums I visit. Anything else "better" on other forums is mostly cosmetic.

Hoping to someday solve this by using TAGS for threads within each section. So Travelogues sections could have a tag for each region or state.
(Same thing could be applied to your "Commercial forum" example: Eg. [Air][Land][Sea] etc as examples of tags).

But at times (even while logged in), it takes me to the corresponding news article, from where I have to click on 'View forum discussion' as I prefer reading on the forum page. First, why is it so?

That box on the bottom alternates between "Hot Threads" and "Today's News" on every load/refresh. See the title of the box for an indication of what it's showing.

1) Quick Links > Members List > Search Members > Advanced search > Location

Unfortunately we are dealing with software that is a bit long in the tooth, so this is the way it will be until another big overhaul. This was the previous update.

Wow... hadn't even thought of that!

I was quite unhappy with that little red icon, simply because I know that not many people understand what it does.... but I couldn't really find the ideal way to improve upon it. This might just be that solution!

Another interesting option! Thanks... added to the notes for when updates to the index pages are to be made.

Very difficult at the moment.

Eventually our next step would be something like a SSO login, and that might have 2FA associated with it.

Libran1987 had reported a similar bug a month ago. However, in his case it was spaces (not dashes) causing the issue.

Eg. "gear 1.heic" would change to "1.jpg"

This has been fixed 2 days ago. Please let me know in case you're still facing any issues...

The following request was already denied once, so please pardon me for asking again (asking because I find it to be verrrrrrrry useful).

Please bring back the "Go to First Unread Message" in a thread. Yes, I am aware of the Red triangle; I am asking for this feature once the thread hd been opened for reading.

This used to exist earlier, but has since been replaced by (in my opinion alone) a useless feature to view all photos.

Net request (this occurred to me today after reading a thread title on finding chargers used by our members): We have so many travelogues here with info on hotels/food places/toilets en-route. Is it possible (and would it be a good idea) to have a way of populating these as POIs on Google Maps/Apple Maps so that people can search on said app?

Thanks and cheers

The search functionality on Team-BHP although already very good, could be a little better though. There have been instances where I couldn't find a thread via TBHP search in the first few pages, but could find it in the top 1-2 results on Google by searching "team-bhp.com <my search text>".

Just today I was searching for "test drive checklist" and didn't get anything. Then tried "test drive" the first few pages were filled with Test Drives for individual cars, which is how it should be. Searching for "how test drive" also didn't return any results.

I'm not sure how to do this (not an SEO person), but wanted to bring this up.

I couldn't seem to replicate it... Which browser are you facing this on?

For the "Google" search:
1) If you type "site:team-bhp.com" along with your search term, that might help more
2) You can use our inbuilt Google Custom Search. See more here.

1. Can we have a Quick Reply button right near the top of the thread rather than having to scroll down for a distance?
2. Why is almost everyone in the last 6 years writing ‘Break’ when they mean ‘Brake’?This is a seriously low level poor kind of spelling error. Is it possible therefore, to have an ‘auto-correct/ auto-spell-check’ to help our less fastidious brethren with their spelling?

Add 'vedio' for 'video' too. :Frustrati

Lots of BHPians who otherwise would be writing wonderfully, ends up using breaking instead of braking.

The spelling errors have gone out of hand. In olden days of writing or painting by hand, we could have excused. But in this day where every digital printing goes through a word processor, we have the silliest mistakes in hoardings and display boards in greater numbers than old hand painted ones had.

Recently I reported a poster for saying that a driver should be behind the bar, when he meant behind bars. The first means serving customer in a pub, the second means in prison.

If it is not a person's native language, I think it is understandable that mistakes are made with idioms like this. But does the team actually want stuff like this reported? Team-BHP used to insist on a higher standard.

Oh... recently I saw some person talking about rivettes. I assume that this is just a rivet, but a sterotype-female one in a stage show. I did google to make sure that some trade name or quick-fitting brand didn't exist.

Break and brake. One of English's little treats for the pedants! A mistake I do sometimes make.

I had to be nagged a lot over lose and loose. And it still doesn't make sense to me. But then, a lot of English stuff doesn't! At lest it's not as bad as Irish names. Recently in the news: Saoirse Ronan. English people (including me) don't have a clue, but I did check it out. If it wasn't for Sean Connery, most people would get Sean wrong too.
