I think he meant author of the first "topic" post in the thread.

When the discussion takes a step ahead of the topic... then the topic needs to be edited so that any new person doesn't have to go through all the 10 pages or he doesn't reply to the outdated topic.

Mods do update many topics thatway.... but its not possible for them to update all. If there is a feature in the forum software I think this right should be given to atleast Senior Bhpians to start with. (we are talking about right to Author only)

It can be used in wrong way too.

Suppose say someone makes a post about some issue. & later in debate other members come with strong argument then author can modify his post to his benifit.
I would suggest if any member want to add more info to the topics first post then PM the details to mods.

There is no point discussing this any further, since editing rights will not be extended beyond the original 20 minutes.

If you want the opening post to contain additional infomation (weblinks, pictures etc.) please PM a moderator and the need will be met.

Looks like my suggestion got lost in between.

This would remind GTO of the ACI forum.....

Right,... but isn't it a manual option in forum softwares to disable all the tags which would not be supported.
So basically someone would have to actually do it.

Hi Mods and Admins,

I'am a newbie here and a lot of people like me would want to know more abt TBHP...as to how the idea evolved, who was the brain behind it....and so on..so can we have a brief write-up on TBHP..like "about TBHP" or introduction to TBHP" ?

Sorry, but due to varied reasons we would not like to enable this feature.

Yes SLK, would remind us of the ACI forum.

ACI forum....? Hmm I think I am out of the loop here. Any secret story?

Currently To show image, I would use [img*]location[/img*] (Without the * of course)
vbulletein has a feature by which the user can specify wether the image has to appear left or right. This involves using [imgl*] and [imgr*] tags.
Can this be enables. I know this works because another forum I visit(dgrin.com) has this feature enabled. All you need to do is create a custom tag in admincp.

Why not add in a shoutbox like the one on xbhp...just a suggestion...its pretty cool

There is lot of useful information on team-bhp but you have to search for it. As the search is based on keywords, you will get a list of all articles where the key word is present.
For e.g if you search for "Bangalore to Mysore" the first 2 answers you see is "Bangalore police assaults techie" and "Definite FE poll". Even if you find the the thread you are looking for (say "Best places to fill up"), you have look thru several posts with duplicated or even contradictory info.

Are there any plans for a team-bhp wiki where you can find frequently asked info quickly? If not, why not?
If there are no plans, I want to create a wiki page on my domain (hosted by dreamhost) with entries like
and many other entries.

If there is already a website that has similar info in one place, please let me know. What do members think of this wiki idea? I would like some of the team-bhp admins to have write access to the wiki, if they are interested.

this is one excellent idea my man

Dude i personaly like the FAQS point that you are putting up.... it'll surely help the newbees understanding the forum better.

Remaining i think these suggestions should be posted on the suggestion thread.
