I have been wondering for a while about what happened to Campa Cola. Have they totally shut down their bottling plants (as Pepsi and Coca Cola have sewn up the soft drinks market). I remember seeing large litre plastic bottles of Campa drinks in 2004 at a local market but nothing on my last trip to India.

Always used to enjoy Campa Cola as it was the most fizzy drink on the Indian market.

Bah! You brought back memories of a bygone era. Long long back, when I was a kid and lived up north they used to be the drink to have. Those were the socialist days when Coke had been chased out of the country by George Fernandes and his friends and desi drinks like Campa Cola ruled the roost.

But I think they folded up long long back. At least 15 years back if not more. You sure you saw them in the market in 2004? The only ones beyond Pepsi and Coke (and their direct and acquired sub brands like 7up and Thums up) that I see nowadays in India are those RC Cola branded drinks.

As far as I know they are have demolished the factory in chennai (guindy) and they are building a new.so 2004 is of no chance.

LOL dudes. I know that in the back of beyond near Delhi (read Gurgaon rural district) you can get it today also.

@bigman - The exact place is the chai shop opp Garhi Harsaru station.

No, don't remember Double 7. Did you mean '7 Up' instead and advt. with fido dido?

About Campa cola: I guess it must some old bottles still being used in some bottling plants.
As far as I recollect, these brands (campa cola, Gold spot & Thumps Up, Limca) were owned by Parle & must have been sold over to Coke after acquisition.

we still get 'Sprint' here in kerala :D

Yep nostalgic.
Does any one remember TORINO ? Orange coloured drink.
The Torino factory still exists in Bangalore ( Mysore road)

Just remembered - Tina Munim (Mrs Tina Ambani) used to model for Thrill (a cola drink). What happened to it?

And Double 7 is not 7Up. It was cola launched in North when Coke was chased out.

A nice jingle of campa cola was - Its here, it now, its a holiday. We are gonna have fun all the day. Campa cola Campa cola....

lolz... that a good start of the day. Still remember those ads and coca-cola !!

Anyone remember Rim-Zhim !! :D
