My 3 fav teams. Hope one of them takes the 'Solid Gold'

Brazil - GODS. Period.
Germany - Clinically EXCELLENT
Italy - BEST LOOKING footballers [hey, iam straight, OK ]

My Bottom Three -

Argentina - Thugs.
France - Coquettish sissies.
England - Overpriced sissies.

The only reason I'll still root for Brazil again is Kaka. Leo Messi may turn out to be the Maradona of '86 in this world cup. I'll watch out for Theo Walcott of England. The only European team I like, Sweden, didn't qualify. Sad.

I'm crazy about Football. Always have been. I love the Brazilian game but I've always supported the underdogs- England and Netherlands.

Does anybody know what time the matches will be telecast in IST? Gotta start preparing my timing schedules..

Well well well! Thankfully the summers are not going to be boring again. Every time the league season finishes across Europe in May, I'm like a fish out of water for the next three months, not knowing what to watch if I switch the TV on. Not this year, yippee!

Matches start at 7:30 PM IST but some afternoon starts would mean matches starting at 5:00 PM as well. And then there are games starting at the stroke of midnight, and some big ones at that. Bring it on!

My eternal favourite is Argentina (Maradona effect: Pele who?). I want Spain to win it this time though. It would mark a complete turnaround in the fortunes of the perennial underachievers. England are no good even with Rooney (and I'm a Man Utd fan). Did I forget the Dutch? They are next after Spain. The outside bet could be on Ghana (a young but talented squad) or Ivory Coast (proven performers across major european leagues).

Agree. Pretty stupid, actually.

EDIT : Just wondering, does India have a football team ? If yes, does it even participate in FIFA qualification matches ?

I don't know if I'll get a chance to watch the games live, but I'll be rooting for England and the US. I hate Brazil, Argentina, Italy and Portugal

Anku, India does have a football team, with Ray Houghton as the coach, IIRC. However, there are clashes with the coach blaming the players and vice-versa, the last time i checked.

As for the qualifiers, we yet to make any major inroads.

Dangling bait - trying hard.....ok, I managed not to bite into that one!

Na, seriously love Argentina from Maradona days. Don't like the England team because of this serious rivalry. Brazil are always a treat to watch. I love the way they keep passing the ball around (no clearances) even inside their own 'D'.

This World Cup is going to be awesome and I am hoping that I can actually watch the matches live in an European country.

Why would you think India would not have a football team? You do live in India right?
Infact recently the Indian striker Sunil Chhetri has signed for Kansas City in the MLS.

We have a team but it does very poorly in qualification although we have qualified for the Asia cup in 2011 after a long time. :s

Sad news most of Mallus will not be able to watch the world cup, Asianet(the biggest cable TV provider in kerala) has long pening dues with ESPN/Star sports/Ten sports, so these channels were switched off effective today.
