Very much sir.

No one can stop you from driving your own vehicles in any part of J&K which is deemed fit for civilians.

Hi Waseem - Did your advocate manage to get clarity on whether rental cars were allowed to be driven all across J&K?

SILVERWOOD - the KA RTO thread is locked up. I appreciate your tenacity in following up with the Karnataka HC and getting the Motor Vehicle Taxation Amendments annulled . Do share us the actual verdict/order when you get it.

Re: Drive without borders vs State of Jammu & Kashmir

Dear Friends,

The hearing lasted for barely 1 minute. The government pleader has asked for more time and the judge has asked them to file their reply/objections by 28th March 2016.

I will come back to you with more updates after 28th March. We will also be served a copy of their reply/objections and we will file a rejoinder accordingly.

Re: Drive without borders vs State of Jammu & Kashmir

Dear Friends,

The matter was listed today. The SP of Leh has been made a party and the Judge has given 3 more weeks to the govt for filing response to our PIL.

The govt pleader told the court that security has been beefed up in the region after the interim order.

Hi Waseem
Currently self drive rental cars can't be taken to places like Nubra and Pangong due to taxi union. Does our PIL ask the govt to stop the Taxi union from making checkpoints etc., and stopping tourists?

Thank you for the follow up and providing updates. Will be following this closely since I wish to drive there one day. And I would require a rental car.

My Fortuner is in my company name, is that going to be an issue now?
