Yes, and compared to the price of a single alloy these are VFM.

Only one tamper resistant nut is in the picture, but all 5 nuts per wheel are done.

Re: Wheels stolen from multiple cars at Tata Nagar, Bangalore

I bought wheel lock nuts for my Fortuner from Toyota Thailand.

A search on Amazon shows some products

Gorilla Automotive 61641 Acorn Gorilla Guard Locks (14mm x 1.50 Thread Size) - Set of 4 https://www.amazon.in/dp/B002801NI8/..._U4B8BbKFX6DCE

Car Wheel Thefts in New Delhi

The old ways to steal car wheels has come alive again in Delhi. These pictures were sent by a friend from Delhi and the date is 13/11/2018. The locality is Rajouri Garden. About two decades ago such thefts were common for Maruti 800's (alloys included), when the car was reported to have undergone a "belly landing."

As will be evident, the thieves have stolen all the four wheels here and have put up a few stacks of bricks here and there on which the car rests. Hence, the theft could have been committed maybe without a jack. The handiwork of a gang, a few members of which could have lifted the car and placed the bricks. Next, the wheels could have been unbolted and stolen. And a mini truck could have been used for the crime to carry the heavy booty. They could have come with stolen bricks from some construction site and used these bricks. Next, after the bricks could have been put in place to prop up and sustain the car's height, the wheels could have been loaded on the mini truck.

The real modus operandi could have been something else too and not as postulated by me. After all, thieves have very innovative ideas and are much ahead of the law enforcers and the common man's thinking.

Lastly, the car owners should be thankful as the cars have been left back. These people appear to be wheel thieves and not car thieves !

Re: Car Wheel Thefts in New Delhi

I know a few people who still visit the so called 'chor bazaar' for car parts.

I always try to tell them not to go there and encourage these activities, IMO if no one goes to buy stolen parts then obviously these activities will reduce and die off.

Re: Car Wheel Thefts in New Delhi

i can think of only one way to avoid such theft - Park your car very close to a wall in such a way that no person can pass between gap. This way atleast you can save 2 wheels ( or maybe 4 if the theives want an entire set ).

Another way is to put thick Iron chains around all 4 wheels and pass it through some lamp post or railing.

Re: Car Wheel Thefts in New Delhi

One should invest in theft protection wheel nuts if his residence area is prone to thefts. There are plenty available on amazon.

Re: Car Wheel Thefts in New Delhi

Yesterday I received this on WhatsApp from a friend in Delhi. This happened in the victim's apartment, probably in connivance with security guards. It's really sad

Yeah, found these, they are universal for Hyundai, Honda and other brands. Car wheel theft in India-screenshot_20181122140551.png

These are simpler ones, there are nuts available which are much more difficult to open (almost impossible without the key/socket supplied) but those are quite expensive and are shipped from outside India.

Thanks to a Team-BHP Fan (who prefers to stay anonymous) for sending this information in. Heartfelt gratitude for sharing it with other enthusiasts via this Team-BHP page!

The wheel/tyre thieves have struck again. This time, just outside my office in Indiranagar, which is supposed to be one of the best and most expensive localities in Bangalore. Almost every other building has got a CCTV here, and one can clearly see HDFC Bank about 40-50 meters behind the car (it has a guard posted 24 hours a day).

When I reached the office yesterday, I found this car's wheels and tyres stolen. It had some yummy looking after-market alloys and wide tyres. It was always parked somewhere around my office. Unlike earlier cases that I have seen of wheel/tyre theft, this car was not even rested properly on stones - it fell down from those stones causing damage to the underbody. Such a heartless thief!!

Re: Car wheel theft in India

Happened in Chennai Yesterday.

Quote:
A man who had parked his month-old car outside his home in TVS Colony at Anna Nagar woke up on Monday morning to find that someone had stolen all four wheels. JJ Nagar police said Mahesh Babu, who works in a private firm, usually parked his Maruti Ciaz for the night at a relative’s house two streets away, but had left it on the road outside his home as he planned to visit a temple early on Monday to get pooja done to the car.
