Hi Inder, you are very lucky to be in good shape after what happened!

Your split second reaction saved the day for you. Had it not been for the quick right swerve maneuvre, it could have been far far worse.

Good that you shared this with us, as it reminds us how important it is preserve even a split seconds concentration while driving, to avert bigger disaster. Hope you get your car back in good shape!

It is as per the provisions of the MV Act. The idea is that he should check whether it is fit for use after the accident.

Laws - Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 Section 136

Hi All,

Thanks all for the wishes again!

The update is that tomorrow Insurance guy from Mandovi will access the damage and inform on the total cost.

Since I did take in some beating from the around 5 villagers, My top left part of the head is swollen as well as my left forearm. Also, I'm experiencing back ,neck pain and some pain near left rib. Will be getting the scanning done from Apollo Hospital tomorrow.

Imagine not getting hurt from accident but from the people. As soon as I came out of the car, 5 guys hurled closed fists punches to my head near temple and back/neck. I defended myself and pushed them back as they were taking me towards the fields. In this process, my left forearm took most of the beating.

I need to go to court by Thu-Fri to close the case as well.

Hi Guys,

Here's something wierd;

I have been calling Mandovi, Mysore Isurance guy from past 4 days .. he's been telling I'll check on the vehicle and let you know. Yesterday, he says the car will be ready by next week. He further added, there was a major body damage, thats why it is taking long to complete the repairs.

I am shocked to hear this because he hasn't given me the estimate when I called or called to inform about it . Going to the Mandovi onHunsur road, Mysore today. Can any BHPian living in mysore come in if required to help me out with this?

Inder,

Not sure if you would have noticed, but did you sign the consent papers also (for insurance claim), when you left the vehicle with them?

Please go thru the work listing in detail.

Hi Hapywheels,

Thanks for the quick reply.

There were no consent papers, There was a job card which I signed (Is it the same?), the one we get at the time of regular serviceing , which said the damages accessed by the supervisor (Not the insurance guy).

@Inder that is the routine service job card. But did you sign any insurance claim papers. If not then do that ASAP or else the insurance guy will not come to assess the vehicle.

Hi Shishir,

There were no Insurance papers or insurance persons present there at that time. The person I spoke to is the Insurance Guy from Mandovi. I will go there right away to check what's up.

If just the job card, then they cant claim the insurance as of now. And for insurance claim, after the surveyor does the survey, you will be presented the estimate and if you are fine with it, you sign the consent form and they start work.

The usual practice (the easy approach by all workshops) is to take the sign on the consent form, which says you agree to the charges, estimate, and are responsible, blah blah, when they take the processing documents itself

And as Shishir mentioned, I hope you did the claim request form, where you would have mentioned the date, time, accident details and such, for the workshop to initiate the claim process. And since you had an FIR, even that should have been given.

EDIT:

You should have filled out a claim for, the the actual insurance processing to start. Please check it.

Happywheels/Shishir,

Thanks for the update. Will go there right now to check what's happening. I did give FIR and Car Papers copies to them and recalling the day , I did sign one form. Geeezz..

It's so hard to remember, whole day I was running around PS to get the vehicle released and then get it towed to Mandovi. I will check on it and update. It's tough to run around with a painful and swollen ankle .

Thanks Shishir ,

Everytime you hear from lot of people that life flashed before their eyes, nothing like that happened to me at least. Reason: The brain didnt have enough time to think abt it. It took one sec to see , turn the steering, hit, spin , hit, spin and come to standstill. No time to think at all!!
