VM's Maybach is PY regd(number includes 9's) I think. Quite possible it being the same. IIRC, He got the Maybach which was used by MB as demo/display car and black(or some dark shade).

Any idea if this a new one or is just visiting the city?

Yep I had seen the same Maybach at the same time, same place about two weeks back. Couldn't manage taking pics as I was driving. It had incredible presence!

This PY reg Maybach is driven around Mumbai itself and usually is accompanied by a blood red W220 S Class or Flying Spur.

Yep. This one runs around quite a bit, seen it quite often on the straight. And yes, it's bloody long. Gulps down even the Phantom.

Somehow, whenever I've seen it (5-6 times already) it's never had the red escort car(s). Not on the straight, not at Colaba, never.

THe maybach 62 is huge . Though IMO i think it looks ugly its still got the presence to it. Its much lengthier and bigger than the phanthom and more expensive also.
MUst be mighty comfortable sitting in it.

Thats cause the Chauffer does not need and Escort brother . When the Boss is in the car you have an escort car with him and yes not really the red boys follow.

. This perticular car costed the owner less than a Ghost. It is comfortable to sit in but somehow yet gives you a feeling you are in a bigger S class.

So you mean this Maybach was bought for 2Cr or even lesser! Does these sort of super luxury cars depriciate that much? How old is this particular car?

The car was bought for around 2.3 cr, the Ghost in Bombay on road comes to about 3 cr. This car was the Demo vehicle of MBIL, hence the cheaper price tag. I believe you drop 30% the minute you drive out of the showroom. These real high end cars drop almost by 50%. If i remember right this was a 04/05 model.

Nice pics Speedy. I am confused about one thing though. If this was a demo vehicle, it should have been registered in Pune (MH-12). This one is a PY = Pondicherry registered.

I believe their regular test cars carry an MH14TC on red plates. Some sort of temporary registration?

The super high end cars are not registered and carry TC red plates. These cars are used as Demo display cars and not test drives vehicles. The owner has property and it save in Taxes so PY registration.

This is the same car featured by SidIndica in Delhi at the Mercedes workshop. The car had a scratch on the door.

All the regular test cars are Registered cars. The high end like the Maybach and the Rolls are not registered cars. The point being that in these cars you dont get test drives only the car is taken to the client for a demo of features. These cars are also used as display cars at exhibitions and shows. The White Ghost of the dealership is in Hyderabad for the Auto show.

Re: Pics : The Maybach 62 in Mumbai

Spotted the very same Maybach discussed in the above posts on the highway at Santacruz, that thing is Ultra-Long! The owner was seated at the back and it was being followed by an Innova filled with bodyguards which had an Army sticker on it. No pics as i was driving.
