Oh, so that is the much awaited Big German. Great choice buddy, have you considered getting(importing, or does they import one for you on special order ?) a V10 Tdi ? Trust me on this, it is a BOMB, really the 'Baap' of all SUV's IMO !

Edit - Just checked the US-VW site. It tell me only two variants are available. Has they phased out the V10 Tdi ? Can some one confirm ?

The V10 has stopped because it couldn't meet the emission norms.

The new model is coming with a 3.5 V6 TDI (check overdrive) so will be getting that. With the 3.5 ill be able to smoke most SUV's but 30% of the time I will use the Touareg for off roading.

OT: My dad makes all the decisions for choosing the cars. I just convince.

Very good choice indra. That's a total butch SUV with one massive heart. You really don't have anything else in that price range which can match the performance and off -road abilities of that beast.
Good Choice. Try getting the same in white .Looks gorgeous in white.

Got this pic from my cousin who visited Goa last month. He clicked this near Anjuna beach. I know its not a exotic, but surely an import.

No clue which make or model. My cousin spoke to the owner, and the car is is 100% working condition.

I have a high resolution pic of this car. Reduced the size to be able to upload here.

Are you sure those are 18 inchers? I have the same design on my 5 and they're 17 inchers.

@indra - One question, why Touareg?
I think its expensive. I checked out one at a showroom in my city. At 61 L on road, i think its expensive. Put some more and go for a Q7.
Or even Q5 would be good.

Just my two cents. All the best. Albeit you can't go wrong with either.

As I said earlier I need a very good off roader and Q7 off road is honestly a piece of rubbish. And I have tested all these SUV's from 50-80 lac off road and in the conditions that I want to driver them in and they all disappointed me. I do not need SUV which will make me happy on road(I have other cars to do that) but one which will go anywhere. The only thing that is disappointing in the Touareg is that it doesn't have an Air suspension.

The SUV must be able to seat 5 people easily and the Q5 is very small.

Plus the Touareg is faster than most SUV's and the dealer just told me that they are getting a 3.5 V6 TDI in the new Touareg so its worth the wait.

In that case the Range Rover/Sport too can be considered. It will take you anywhere you want, and is as royal as the Buckingham itself. Just my point. The TDV8 must be a good option if you are concerned about miles. And a tonne more snob value than a VW. You can't go wrong with this one.

Here is the RR Sport TD-V8 spec sheet.

We don't have a LR dealer in Goa so we have to pay entry tax which will make the car 14% more expensive.

LR dealers is a rarity bro. We don't have one here too(soon expected) still there are lots of RR's in here. And my friend bought 2 -2010 RR Sport TD-V8 recently. It is a dream to drive.

Do agree, 14% is tad too pricey.

OT - I did a Goa-Mumbai Road Trip some years ago, i think it is some 590kms. It was a Joy to drive all the way. So wont you like to take the RR on long drives ? Excuse - To get it serviced
