thanks

thanks transam, karan and GTO. Feels good to have the effort appreciated. And GTO its still running the stock turbo - though I am currently looking to get a stage 1 hybrid from either fensport or rogue in UK. Since this a Jap Spec car - that should get it to 270+ BHP - and still stay reliable.

Have also tried to keep it stock to the extent possible - and keeps the mods subtle - and I am glad it works for you guys. Thanks again

No point going beyond that - because then you're looking at more complimentary work incl injectors etc. Its hard to get this kind of work done reliably here.

This car is fast enough - haven't had too many cars pass me in the three years I've had.

Regards all

also

Have done a few things though.

It has a fidanza aluminium flywheel
MSD ignition
a greddy intercooler
and HKS SSQV blow off valve
A greddy Intercooler
SPAL fans for the intercooler
an aus exhaust downpipe
a greddy exhaust

Once I get the stage one turbo upgrade - and associated stuff - plan to upgrade the brakes to wilwood or AP racing.

And I wouldnt do anymore - as I have new project on the anvil that I need to focus on.

Saw Salty's MR2 last saturday in my aptmt in Pune. I am pretty sure it was the same one. But anyway, the car looks mint and beautiful. Reminds me of a colleague who once owned a turbo and still gushes about these little minx.

Update for Salty.

I am not sure about the previous statement, but there is an MH-01 registration MR2 (probably non-turbo edition) in NIBM, and yes it is in my apartment and belongs to a resident probably. It must have changed hands recently as It is standing where I saw a Honda CRX before for a few days. Could well have been the dealer who stays there. But this is still there when I left the place this evening.

hey salty dog,by hybrid do you mean the turbo or the engine? if its the engine that your goin to swap then what would you do with the existing engine? where did you get the car restored and how long did it take for u to procure the parts? i get my parts from mohit sood who's located in palika bhavan and i have recently been having overfuelling issues with the car and had ordered an O2 sensor one and a half months back but it is yet to arrive.also, you say that changing the injectors is such a big task.do you mean that there is no one here who is capable of doing a job such as this? i am going to swap my engine with a turbo'd one which will be brand new from toyota JAPAN and am apprehensive whether the swap will work out or not.best of luck with your mods.

I can get you any part for JDM Toyota's, PM for details.

Stuck injectors also cause overfueling.

You can NOT get full built New engines from Toyota only short blocks.

parts

Hey fuys

By Hybrid trurbo I meant the rebuilt stock turbo's offered by MR2 specialists like Fensport, Rogue etc. all out of UK. They rebuild the turbo using stronger shafts and a slightly larger turbin - that ups the power by about 20% and is easy to instal and stays reliable.

Also after trying all sorts of people I've now sttled on Lakozy Toyota for parts - all shipped in from Toyota Japan. And they have the equipment to deal with it - and are quite attentive to my car. After a lot of yellling and screaming they've realised how serious I am and how exacting I want the work to be. Richard there who heads the workshop is now a good friend and genuinely tries.

Unfortunately - the last mile for any parts change upgrade is tuning - that requires a level of experience and tuning that just hasn't had the time to develop in this country.

And for a serious well managed power upgrade there is no way ahead without a full rolling road dyno - and an experience - nay - a master mapper.

When I met with Fensport in UK - they told me their re mapper had remapped 2000 cars before they hired him - where will you get that here. Very unfortunate - but very true.

I get tempted sometimes to start a garage of my own that will cater to serious car enthusiasts - but the problem on our side is that a lot of us are unprepared the full economic price for serious work - we want the goods but the hate the bills. We owners are part of the problem. Just for example to get a 15 year old MR2 in full fettle will require anywhere between 10 - 15 lacs - and thats a lot for a car that will probably cost you 10 lacs.

so there!

The steering looks like a non-factory fitment..infact looks very cheapish.

thats true salty dog,few people can afford the kind of mods that we are talkin about.
on top of that if you have workshops like lakozy who are out to disinherit you from the material world and wreck your car at the same time then its even more discouraging.
but now ive found an honest man here in noida whos very good at mods and goes by the name of perfomance auto.
the mr2 in stock turbo trim with about 240 bhp in my opinion is extremely fast and will power slide on demand any where.
i recently got to drive it flat out and found that the revs were staying between 6000 to 8000 rpm at all times.the rev limit had been upped and it was a big thrill.
if i can do a turbo swap on my car itll be the ultimate fun for me

the injectors have been cheked -theyre ok.
cts,timing-dizzy and cam, both are ok
map sensor-ok-what else?
this problem started while it was being serviced in lakozy and the mecanic deliberately tried to change the timing belt even though the mr2 had done only 62000 km.
he opened the fuel injectors to clean them [not recomended by toyota]
subsequent to this lakozy could not start the car for 6 days
all this was done in my presence!
i sent the car back to lakozy and tipped the mecanic in advance so he would look over it more carefully
car was sent back to me with a bill of RS 3500/= and even more knocking.

later i got the car checked at a different workshop and found that the timing belt had not been put back properly (it was out by a tooth) and the fuel filter was clogged.
faults were rectified at perfomance auto with recommendation for O2 snsr replacment.
