Re: Triumph Motorcycles @ Auto Expo 2012 Hello Ku69RD & Mr Ram,
Thank you once again for the kind words.
As mentioned by Mr Ram, the Scrambler 2009 was "love at first sight", I saw it at the 2009 Dubai Bike Week and I paid an advance for it then are there.
The Thruxton 2009 was brought in from the US of A, it was rear ended by a car and was nursed back to its present state.
The bikes have different characteristics, they are as different as chalk and cheese.
The scrambler, with its higer ground clearance, wider handle bar, dual purpose tires and upright seating position is a hoot to ride off roads and through traffic.
The weight is a problem while off roading through pure sand in the desert and it more oriented towards packed earth/ off roads/ boulder strewn paths.
On roads, it will max out at 185 Kph, will hold 130 kph for hours on end and does not heat even with temperature howering at 45 Deg Cel.
The Thruxton is more of a wolf in sheeps clothing. It is great for going around corners, open roads with fast bends, and generally for speeds. I have a set of D&Ds on it, so the sound is fantastic.
On roads, it will max out at 210 Kph, will hold 130 to 140 kph for hours on end and does not heat even with temperature howering at 45 Deg Cel.
My other bikes include the following;
In India
1922 Douglas
1936 BSA M20
1957 BSA M21
1965 BSA BB31
1948 Triumph 3T
1949 Triumph 5T
1950 Matchless G3L
1985 Honda VFR 750
And a couple of projects (CD 200s, RD 350s ...)
An Austin 12/4
In the UAE
2009 Thruxton
2009 Scrambler
1993 Yamaha SRV 250 v Twin
1994 Honda VFR 1000 Project
2000 Honda CBX 750 Project
The last two bikes are to be junked, if any fellow BHPians need spare, its for the asking.
I'll be on hand to help out with any queries that you should have on these bikes.
I was born with a plastic spoon in my mouth, so I am aware of the trials and tribulations of restoring, owning motorcycles, I am here to help.
Take care and stay well.
