Triumph Motorcycles @ Auto Expo 2012

The British Legend - Triumph have launched 7 bikes for the Indian market at the Auto Expo 2012.

Triumph Motorcycles @ Auto Expo 2012-triumph_logo.jpg
  • Triumph's Indian model range will start from INR 5,50,000.
  • A few of the models will be assembled in India via CKD resulting in duty savings to be passed on to the consumers.
  • The brand is looking at establishing 3-4 dealerships this year with a plan to set up 10-12 dealerships within next three years.
  • At present, two years unlimited mileage warranty is included as standard.
  • All pricing announced today was guideline pricing, however, it should be fairly indicative of the final price.

Bonneville
INR 5,50,000 (ex-showroom)
  • This is, for many people, the most iconic Triumph of all time.
  • Powered by an air-cooled, DOHC, 865cc parallel twin engine.
  • In this age of digital instrumentation, the analogue speedometer adds to the classic character.
  • It generates maximum power of 67 BHP @ 7500 rpm and maximum torque of 68 Nm @ 5800 rpm.

Thanks to jalsa777 for all the pictures

Tiger 800XC
INR 11,40,000 (ex-showroom)
  • The Tiger has a smooth long stroke 3-cylinder engine

re: Triumph Motorcycles @ Auto Expo 2012

Rocket III Roadster
INR 22,00,000 (ex-showroom)
  • The Rocket III has always been known as the world’s largest engined mass production motorcycle, with a 2.3 litre three-cylinder engine!
  • With 221 Nm of torque at just 2750 rpm, this one sure is a hardcore cruiser bike.
  • The 2.3 Litre engine also generates 146 BHP of power @ 5750 rpm.
  • It was the eye-candy at the Triumph stall, since it had a massive presence amongst all the other bikes.
  • The Rocket III has a shaft drive.
  • When fired up, this sounds like a super sports bike - unlike the usual cruisers which have a *thumping* exhaust note.

  • It has four-piston brakes with optional ABS
  • The tank mounted speedo includes a clock, two trip meters and fuel gauge, in addition to a small and stylish tachometer.

Re: Triumph Motorcycles @ Auto Expo 2012

Oh god a 2.3 litre 3 cylinder engine. That is massive. Love its looks but god forbid, what happens if the stand slips and falls on the side. Someone's leg is bound to break plus it will be very difficult to pick it up.

All the bikes look great. Everyone knows Harley so Harley has a sales advantage due to its visibility among many people. Unless a person is a hardcore bike enthusiast, he will not know Tirumph motorcycles and thats where the problem lies. Would be interesting to see their marketing strategy here in India

Beats me too! I keep pinching myself you know

Triumph now has a great advantage in the supersport category. The Japs, if and whenever they launch their supersport steeds now have something to factor in. Not to forget the first mover advantage.

I truly wish Triumph the best of luck. They deserve to gain a market share for their awesome line up.

Re: Triumph Motorcycles @ Auto Expo 2012

Parrys , you are the man. Awesome job putting all the info together. Coming to the bikes , a Bonneville for 5.5 lakhs. I am booking one right away. Will compliment my busa perfectly. What classic British lines on that thing. The rest of the lineup looks promising too. I really hope these guys do well in our country.

Heyy, even i am very excited to see a Bonneville on the road.
All bikes from the Triumph stable would be out by September as per the sources.

If i had the money, I would surely buy a Bonneville for its Classic cult design and how it still manages to get riders all intrested in it.

Pictures were actually clicked by Jalsa777.
And yes about the Japs, Honda / Yamaha / Suzuki have to think twice before pricing their 600cc bikes in India.
Because if Triumph with its reputation has managed to break through at such a appealing price, these guys should not be too optimistic and price it way too optimistically.
I hope they atleast start planning to bring in the CBR600 RR / R6 / GSX-R 600

Re: Triumph Motorcycles @ Auto Expo 2012

One look and I am in love with Bonneville. Yes this bike does pull the strings.
Sadly I cannot afford it.

OT: Sometimes I cannot but wonder how we have been enjoying the look-a-likes of classics without even knowing it.
I never knew that Tata Sumo was so influenced by the Legend, Mercedes G Wagen.
And now I see that we already had Rajdoots and Yezdi having similar lines as Bonneville.
