Kawasaki Z250 and ER6N launch on 16th October, 2014

This may just be a rumour but according to NDTV's automotive section, Kawasaki are planning to launch the Z250 and the ER-6N in India on the 16th of October 2014.

http://auto.ndtv.com/news/kawasaki-t...from=home-auto

The Z250 shares it's design with the Z800 and uses a similar 250cc, liquid cooled, parallel twin motor as the Ninja 250R.

Does anyone have any info on this news. Called up the dealership in Delhi and they did not seem to have any knowledge of this.

If they really wanted another 650 cc bike, they should have bought in the ZX 6R which with its killer 10R inspired looks is a worthy competitor against the Daytona, Street, Monster, etc.

^^Second that. We have enough of these nakeds and tourers here in our market. Daytona is the only option in the 600cc supersport segment and Triumph is exploiting that very well. Get the ZX-6R and end Triumph's monopoly already!

re: Kawasaki Z250 and ER6N launch on 16th October, 2014

The Z250 looks really amazing. I hope they price it well, it complements the Duke390 very nicely and only adds to the confusion in the sub 400CC segment. Which isn't a bad thing actually.

It makes a hell of a street bike. But as with all other bikes, people will take it to the mountains to get Leh'd and I guess this bike will hold its own up there too.

re: Kawasaki Z250 and ER6N launch on 16th October, 2014

After looking around in different websites I finally found some more info. As per the website bikewale.com, the Z250 is expected to be priced between 2.9-3.3 lacs while the ER-6N will be priced between 4.1-5.6 lacs.

http://www.bikewale.com/kawasaki-bikes/er-6n/

These prices seem to be comparatively less than the Ninja 300 and the Ninja 650 which (if one compares the images) seem to be the fully faired versions of the Z250 and the ER-6N respectively.

This is similar to what KTM has done when they introduced both naked and faired versions of their motorcycles in India namely the Duke 200/390 and the RC 200/390. That way buyers would have more choice in what type of motorcycle they wish to buy without there being much difference in the engine or chassis. Maybe Honda should take a lesson from this and introduce both the CBR650F and CB650F next year.

re: Kawasaki Z250 and ER6N launch on 16th October, 2014

The Z250 uses the engine of the older Ninja 250 and not the newer 300.

The older 250 used to retail for 3L odd ex showroom.

So if the prices remains as claimed in the report, then they are par for the course.

Too hard to be a rumor, since almost all the automotive websites are filled with this news, especially the more reliable ones.
Thanks SRTH1987 for confirming the news . Have been waiting for er-6n from almost a year back when news came that Kawasaki would be launching this very soon.

Any updates? Can't see the news of the launch anywhere, or is it going to happen in the evening?

Although it is always good to have more choice, I really don't think either of these bikes will make a big dent on our motorcycling scene, mostly because of the price, but also because our fairing-crazy public. Hopefully ABS comes as an option on the 650, although I really doubt it would.

Re: Kawasaki Z250 and ER6N launch on 16th October, 2014

ER6N priced at 4.78L INR and Z250 at INR 2.99L, all prices are ex-delhi.
The ER6N is priced competitively, shame the same can't be said about the Z250.

4.78 lacs for the ER6N still means over 5.5 lacs on road. Isn't that the same as what the faired Ninja 650R is already selling for? Then where is the reduction?

Kawasaki Ninja 650 now costs over 6L in bangalore. Recently they have hiked price by over 25K. I guess this was done to make way for ER6n.

ER6N will cost ~5.62L and Z250 will cost ~3.55L in Bangalore.

Edit: http://kawasaki-india.com is now updated with Z250 and ER6n. It was funny to see them adding ER6n in Z series and not Ninja
