Re: Kawasaki working on a 250cc inline-4 Ninja (ZX-25R)

Seriously ? The Ninja 400 has more power than this ZX series motorcycle. What the heck is the point of this motorcycle if it has just 43 bhp with an after market exhaust ?

Kawasaki Indonesia just launched this tiny missile digitally. Loved the fact that they released it in 4 different colours.

Attaching the link to the video launch.

Re: Kawasaki working on a 250cc inline-4 Ninja (ZX-25R)

Ah much delayed but finally launched!

A written article for those who are interested.

https://www.zigwheels.com/news-featu...donesia/39105/

Looks like the leaked power figures of 43 bhp were incorrect and the bike makes 51PS at 15,500rpm and 22.9Nm of torque at 14,500rpm. The torque does seem low but then again this bike is not about practicality but for riding it flat out

The weight is the only real downer at 182 kg for a 250cc bike. And of course the fact that we will never see it on our roads.

I'm certain that many would echo this opinion, however perhaps we could view this motorcycle differently. It is not intended to be a motorcycle-in-progresssion for someone upgrading from a 150cc bike.

It looks like a unique offering for someone who already has a ADV bike or even a street-naked and wants to experience the pleasure of an I4 supersport on short rides or even as a leisure/exclusive-riding-experience bike.

I don't see this being comparable to Ninja 300/400. It looks like it offers a totally unique experience on 2 wheels in the 250cc segment. It has kit/equipment that is not available in the Ninja 300/400 and the I4 motor can presumably command a reasonable premium over a twin, despite making lesser power.

This will probably never come to India because everything gets benchmarked on price and by that logic, Kawasaki may not sell more than double digit units if offered at 5.5 - 6 lacs ex-showroom.

If we compare this to the nearest offering in the equivalent supersport segment (CBR650R/ZX-6R/Ducati Supersport), this offers value for those who want the supersport experience, but don't want to spend 10-15 lacs for it. Appreciate Kawasaki for having done something out of the box..

Amen.

Especially when it comes to the fact that irrespective of what class or paper specs the motorcycle belongs to, this is the only offering that gives a normal person the privilege to experience MotoGP spec engine speeds.

I just hope someone knowledgeable from India gets to review the motorcycle, I emphasis on 'knowledgeable' as I dug up an old review from Jimmy Lewis(Cycle World Magazine, Press Ride of Yamaha YZ250F) and the details provided was mind blowing at least a decade or two ahead of what the best of our Indian journo's are capable of today and the laudable part is that Jimmy wrote the said review 2 decades ago.

I echo with you. Appreciate what Kawasaki engineers have done and its little complex to fathom the true position of this motorcycle, especially for our Indian market as it has been struck with cheap powerful motorcycles (eg. KTMs). A premium over the Ninja 300s/400s would be justifiable even by just the aural experience of the machine. But surely it wouldn't succeed in our land IMHO as it'll cost as much as a used 600cc-750cc or maybe even as much a new one too.

Kawasaki surely brought the magnetic appeal of the big bikes in a very small and concised package.

The figures I quoted were leaked figures but they were wrong. The bike is more powerful at 51 bhp so it definitely is fast. The thing is the bike was tailor made for Indonesia which has reduced taxes for bikes <=250cc. Anything above 250cc gets hit with some insane taxes.

Yes definitely won't be coming to India since the taxes will be pretty high and a lot of Indians will start comparing it with a Duke 250 or an RC390 :P

It's a proper track tool unlike the N400. Has a screaming inline 4 engine too.
