Value and Positioning

Entry level pricing, starting at £7,195. (For comparison, Street Triple range starts at £8,100, so does the Street Twin).
10,000miles/16,000km service interval
2 year unlimited mileage warranty

India should be getting the Trident sometime late next year. The microsite with the 'Coming soon' banner is already up for India. However, global sales are set to commence only by Spring 2021 - hence there is still a long time to go!

Hope in the long wait, the prices still remain 'competitive' in India. Putting the almost 1k Pound difference in INR perspective is only 1 lac cheaper! Street Twin starts at 7.5 lacs in India

Spec sheet seems to Triumph the competitors. Can someone put the weight perspective with the Street Triple R?

I'm being optimistic!

Even in the UK - Ninja 650 KRT is priced at £7,045 - so the Trident is positioned only slightly above it.

That does point to a 6.5 lakhs pricing in India once again. Will really set the cat amongst the pigeons at such a price - hope Triumph doesn't get greedy. The recent Street Triple R priced at 8.84 sounds promising though. Shouldn't there be at least 2 lakhs pricing difference with respect to the established STriple anyways?

Triumph Street Triple R is 168 kg dry whereas 189kg wet. Looks like they want to avoid a comparison - but the figures do look very similar.

What I am amazed by is how different the bike looks in the unveil from the uncoloured prototypes that were shown back in August. At that time, I totally dismissed it. Now I am thinking that this bike looks quite nice. Super cool.

A price of 7.5 lacs on road would set the market on fire. I will be in line with a check book for sure.

Very beautiful motorcycle and am sure it's going to be a hit as long as Triumph prices it sanely. Remember the Z900RS, this could be it's killer. Or probably the Z900RS is dead already. This motorcycle has good potential to evolve into a Cafe Racer as well.... Probably in the pipeline you never know.

With the recent decrease in price of street triple and the launch of trident, it seems like triumph is targeting high sales number, especially from India.

Z900RS is dead due to the CBU pricing, but either ways, the appeal is totally different IMHO. Trident has almost no classic vibes, with the Triumph logo on the tank and the multi colours making it look extremely modern and sharp despite the round headlamp. Z900RS on the other hand is a beautiful retro, like the Street Twin.

That said, yeah - high time we've had sweet triples and inline4 motors down the price range and on practical, useable nakeds. Don't know why such motors are reserved for plastic clad machines with painful seating postures only.

Looks like Triumph plans to develop two more motorcycles on the 660 platform.
An adventure (Tiger 660?) and an adventure sport (Tiger 660 Sport?)

re: 2021 Triumph Trident 660 unveiled. Edit: Now launched at 6.95 lakhs

I think we're forgetting the Kawasaki W800 which is sitting pretty around this price range. It would compete with this bike head on.

That said I would personally go for a triple over a twin, since I already own a twin and I want an upgrade.

The only thing I'm afraid of is that all this modern styling could mean the bike is a lot smaller than it could be - perhaps less of an issue with this bike, but for example I went for a test drive of the Husqvarna twins and man, they look small!

Here's hoping the Indian price is competitive.

Since this is an altogether new product, I would suggest waiting for 2 years minimum for all the teething issues to sort themselves out and all the recalls to be issued

This is not a bad idea since they would want to drive volumes to justify the development of a new product. Kawasaki has done the same with the Vulcan/Z650/N650 trio. Even the Versys 650 shares many parts with them. Also makes me wonder if by that comparison the Trident 660 "cruiser" counterpart will be still cheaper than the Trident itself! (The Vulcan is the cheapest Kawasaki 650cc twin you can buy)

Triumph India has started taking bookings for the Trident. I am not sure if they have revealed the pricing for India though (rumoured to be Rs. 7.5 lakhs ex-showroom).

Triumph Trident 660 bookings open

Triumph has started accepting bookings for the Trident 660 in India. The booking amount is set at Rs. 50,000. It is 100% refundable.

The Trident 660 is Triumph's new roadster model that is powered by a 3-cylinder engine. The bike has been developed by the Hinckley design team with inputs from Italian motorcycle designer Rodolfo Frascoli.

The Trident 660 is based on a new tubular steel chassis. It features a circular LED headlamp and has a round instrument cluster. The bike has a short tail section and rides on 17-inch cast aluminium wheels. It comes equipped with ride-by-wire, ABS, traction control and has two riding modes - road and rain.

The Trident 660 is powered by a 660cc, inline 3-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 80 BHP @ 10,250 rpm and 64 Nm @ 6,250 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox via a slip / assist clutch.

The bike rides on 41 mm Showa upside down forks at the front and an adjustable Showa monoshock at the rear. It comes equipped with twin 310 mm disc brakes at the front and a single disc at the rear.

Triumph is also offering a special finance scheme with an EMI of Rs. 9,999 on the Trident 660.

nice, not sure why would any one want to pre book, not that these will sell out on launch day. I would sit and wait for price announcement before plonking any money, and let the dealers sit on my money.

6.49 seems to be a good price for the bike, but 6.99 won't be too bad either, anything more then that the Z900 is just a lac cheaper.

re: 2021 Triumph Trident 660 unveiled. Edit: Now launched at 6.95 lakhs

Interesting offering this one.
3 cylinders and well kitted makes it a unique offering in the segment.
Pricing this is going to be tricky. Anything beyond 6.xx will bring the Trident dangerously close to Z900/CBR 650 territory and both CBR and Z are superior to the Trident, atleast on paper!
Yes one gets the Triumph badge, but then both Z and CBR are cheaper to maintain.

I was looking at a few videos on youtube and the price they quoted was £7,150. Wouldn't that be about 7 lakhs? This is the on road price though.
