Re: Quick Meets at Bangalore

Thanks guys that explains it.
We went up to the temple by stairs. Beyond the temple, there is a trail, which leads to the top. Folks with kids could go half way up there.
There is a flat bed, you can rest with kids. Nice place, but one has to be careful. Brilliant panoramas.

With sun coming in and out, the views were stunning. Some times, it was a golden green all over and some times it faded green.
That is what I had uploaded on the trekking thread.

We had a mini OTR there last year where we took our 4x4's to the top, beside the temple. beautiful place it is.

Re: Quick Meets at Bangalore

Friends, It was nice to see the pics and also good to hear about the place.

I was interested in joining you guys if I weren't stuck on the personal front. How many of you were there in the trip in all? If you were only 5 as seen in the pics, then it would have been great fun if you had pooled into 2 cars instead of 5. Driving alone in a car when you know you got company is a lil boring as per my view. I am sorry if I have gone over board in making this comment. Just a thought guys.

Re: Quick Meets at Bangalore

There were actually 4 cars and 6 guys.
Yes, you are correct about the car pooling during the meets. But mostly people like me look for a chance to drive as i take my bike to work on week days . So for me it is either alone or with a company, just enjoy the drive.

But again, even there were some talks about the car pooling for meets during our last ride. so let us see how it goes during the next meet.

Hope there are some plans for a ride with family to chitradurga forts and caves during this month end hols.

watch this place for the details. someone would initiate the plan soon.

Re: Quick Meets at Bangalore

any suggestions for next week's outing? is chitradurga's cave exploration plan frozen or is the location yet to be decided?

an offbeat question - are bachelor bacchas allowed in BHP family meets?

+1 to the above post. The main motive is enjoying the drive itself; pooling takes away the fun, in my humble opinion

Final set of pics

(Note to Mods: Sorry for the second post so fast, as max 30 image limit was reached in the last post. Please merge if possible)

The final cave we wanted to explore but couldn't because it was water logged, heavily snake infested (according to the guide, who kept saying it in a very dramatic way to build up hype) and not to mention that the descent was very very steep.

Re: Quick Meets at Bangalore

Nice set of photographs Brendon. Thanks for sharing..

So guys, what's the next plan? Chitradurga Fort and Chandravalli caves would be a good day long trip. But it's around 210kms and probably would make more sense if we car-pool for it. Another nearby place is Vani-Vilas Dam. We'll have to start early probably by 6.30am atleast. We probably can go to the Chandravalli caves first and then have lunch somewhere and then come to the Fort and if time permits visit the dam and come back by evening. Road is pretty good and would take around 3hrs+

We can have breakfast at Kamath before Tumkur. No idea about any good eating place at Chitradurga. May be others can chip-in.

If you leave at 6:30, you can easily reach Kamat by 7:00. It might be bit early for breakfast... There were few more restaurants in between Tumkur and Chitradurga, but have never tried.

Last Sunday I was in Chitradurga to have some Masala Dosa. It was at Lakshmi Tiffin Room, which is very popular. Though the food is good, there is a problem in parking. The bikes attracted so much crowd that Traffic Police was called in by locals

We left Bangalore at around 7:15 from JP Nagar and through NICE road to Tumkur Road. With couple of fuel/tea stops in between reached Chitradurga by 9:45. So, if you leave by 6:30, you can reach by 9:00 and probably have breakfast in Chitradurga itself

Re: Quick Meets at Bangalore

Fellas, the monsoons are in their full glory. How about a drive to some falls (Jog Falls for instance) next weekend i.e. 10/11th Sept.

We can decide on a long driver and car pool. A day-drive kinda thing.

What say?

Re: Quick Meets at Bangalore

Sorry guys. Sept 16,17,18 is off bounds for me. I'm driving with friends to Valparai and top slip, down under in TN's western ghats. All of you guys - have a safe, fun-filled drive to Kaas!

Anything planned before that weekend, (maybe 10/11?) for a day's trip around bangalore should be fine for me.

Re: Quick Meets at Bangalore

Hello All,

I know that there are quite a few people who travel to Mysore from Bangalore over the weekend.

I think we must have a meet in Mysore. Or even around Mysore.

Suggestions are welcome.

Cheers,
Manas
