Re: Quick Meets at Bangalore

If the list is not closed, count me in, with my beloved swift! This will be my first drive for a TBHP meet.

Let's decide on the place fast. I'm not sure if my SO will let me go without her, for a longish drive though.

Re: Quick Meets at Bangalore

Editing out the unreasonable locations and optimizing the list -

1. Shivanasamudram and/or Talakadu (Kanakapura road) - 135 Kms
2. Mettur Dam (NH 7 near Salem) - 200 Kms
3. Manchanabele dam and/or Big Banyan Tree (Mysore road) - 40 Kms
4. Kanakapura lake (Kanakapura road) - 40 Kms
6. Horsely Hills (Tirupati route) - 186 Kms
7. Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary + Thonnur Kere (Mysore road) - 135 Kms.
8. Krishnagiri Dam (NH 7 Hosur road)- 100kms
9. Lepakshi, AP - 126 kms

Proposing to remove the following options -

5. Muthathi - 95 Kms - no water now
7. Hogenekal - 125 Kms - no water now
9. BR/MM Hills - 185 Kms - too far, approach roads are bad at present
10. Ooty - 280 Kms - too far for a single day trip

Now if we can narrow down the list to a few more locations, aditya might be able to create a poll and help finalize the decision

Updating the attendees' list -

Attendees:
KarthikK - Linea / Swift / Thunderbird
niranjanrvce - Fiesta / CBR250
floyd.bell - mercedes E220
n_aditya - Ninja
brraj - unknown vehicle with superb power-to-weight ratio. which is it going to be?
nozzlering - Manza
Schoudhury - Ritz
aviorp - Scorpio
BulZire - Lancer
nileshch - Vento
asdon - Punto
hemanth.anand - Punto
_chikku - zen
raj.barcode - i20 / optra
Mad Max - ???
KiloAlpha - Figo
ssjr0498 - OHC VTEC
kaushik_s - Scorpio
DigitalDragon - Sx4
aqualeo2040 - ???
wins2807 - ???
jingaboysr - swift

Do update your rides in the list, to allow easy identification on D-day.

Re: Quick Meets at Bangalore

My views:
(Editing after Karthik's post)
1. Shivanasamudram - 135 Kms : Mysore Road!!! OMG : Wouldnt this face the same water shortage issue as Hoganekal?
2. Mettur Dam - 202 Kms -- 1 prefers this : Salem Highways tends to be a bit boring.
3. Manchanabele dam/Big Banyan Tree - 40 Kms : Repeat : Mysore Road
4. Kanakpura lake - 40 Kms :
6. Talakad - 136 Kms : Mysore Road
8. Horsely Hills - 186 Kms : Not a bad idea
10. Ooty - 280 Kms : Not a one day trip for basic commuters. Raj-s can surely do it
11. Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary - 135 Kms. : Mysore Road
12. Krishnagiri Dam -- 3 prefer this (including me) : Not a bad Idea
13. Lepakshi, AP - 126 kms : Not a bad Idea.

I am game for 7/12/13.
Primarily, Mysore Road has become a sore point. Too many unmarked Speed breakers, too much traffic. I would do anything to give this road a pass.
Am a bit inclined towards Horseley/Lepakshi. With the clouds looming around, they would be really picturesque

Strictly speaking, yes. Since that is also a waterfall, shortage of water will be apparent there as well That's why I clubbed it with Talakad, which is more of a beach-like river bank.

Shivanasamudra and Talakadu approaches will be through NH-208 (Kanakapura road) actually, not Mysore road

The approach road to Talakad was really crappy a few years back. Anyone been there recently? * I am still not too keen on Mysore Road

considering team-bhp standard time (TST), i would say neither .

Looks like Krishnagiri dam is in majority.

Info from my previous ride to this place -

directions to reach - proceed on NH7 beyond Krishnagiri toll gate. At the chennai-Pondicherry deviation, take the flyover ramp and head straight towards Salem. Around 3-4km after the flyover puts you down, take a U-turn and enter an interior road on your left.

http://maps.google.co.in/maps?saddr=...sz=13&t=m&z=10

places to have breakfast - A2B, hosur / Kamat before Krishnagiri (Kamat is better)

places to have lunch - Dhaba express near Krishnagiri, McD, A2B, CCD - all on NH7

He sold the SX4, now owns a Sunny Diesel.

And yes we need to get rid of the films, no tints allowed on glasses, only at manufactring level, tinted glasses are allowed from 4th May. There is a copy of the judgement available in one of the thread here in Team BHP.
