For me, it was a really nice drop-in-and-say-hello occasion. I had been having social life since 9.30am, needed to get home, and would not have been able to drive any further, or go for food, or whatever.

And what is every one planning for the new years eve ?

@Thad, are you missing your white christmas ? ( I mean snow ). This is the first time in almost decade that I am having a non-white christmas . lol

Yes! I'd love to be seeing that snow that London is having now... but I am not missing the temperatures that go with it!

However, If I'd still been living and working there, my routine would have been to drive from London to Cornwall on Christmas Eve or the day before. I don't recall weather ever preventing me from making that journey, but I think it would have to have been cancelled this year!

Chennai Mates - Wish you a Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year 2010!

We - bangaloreans are planning to make a Yelagiri Drive on 16th Jan. This was planned earlier too - but could not make it though. It would be great if you guys also join us during the trip. I am in touch with @ Nitrous on the same.

Hope you got a hang of wearing them.

But one thing for sure. They are the most comfortable things to wear to beat the Chennai Heat!!

And kudos to you for wearing the veshti everywhere! Many people, including me, wear it only at home and feel self conscious in them outside.

Hats off to you Thad!! As Gansan did mention, we feel a bit self consious in our Veshtis when we wear them outside. Sometime back in summer I had a thought to wear it to office

since travelling in that heat in formals through Public Transport was extremely uncomfortable.

I'm getting to feel a bit self-concious, because even the Mylapore music crowd are mostly in trousers these days. Worse, they call them "pants". All sold out to the Americans

We all grew up hearing the same word "Pants" instead of trousers. But Irony here is that India was a British Colony before independence but still we use the work "pants"!!

If I am not wrong "pants" do refer to the under garments in UK, right?

Ha ha! Back in my school days, "Full Pants" meant trousers. It was a status symbol. Trousers meant shorts, also called as "half pants"!

Ok, i will carry this further OT. Yes, in UK pants mean underwear . So, its best not to say in public, 'Its too hot, I will take my pants off' ha ha.

Also, in chennai ( rest of TN too ) , you should call it KOZHAI ( kolaee (like the tap) ) and not trouser. trouser again is an english word !
