Prasanna: Guess you did not understand my statement properly. Please understand that guiding means YOU participants pay for entry fee, etc etc as well as pay ME, not the other way around.

But thanks Batman/Robin (Goutham - Gotham city) for putting me back. At least I will figure in that list.
The list as I explained this morning to someone is the list of cars that are going to be ON TRACK, not on the pits. So John, have you decided your choice?

OK Guys,

Now, to be on track, though a Pay & Practise session, we need to adhere to the following:

1. No car will be allowed carrying loose articles etc inside the car while on track.

2. All cars to have proper seatbelts and all members sitting inside to wear helmets.

3. No Racing allowed on track as we do NOT have marshals etc and any kind of first aid required is some 20 odd kms away.

4. All cars to have proper Tyres with sipe depth of atleast 5mm.

Lets get the date finalised soon. Looks like the last week of February or March it should be happenning..

Cheers

Sorry, if you guys find my doubt silly -

Why should the tyre have atleast 5mm of side depth. Wont greater tread wear have less traction and hence help going faster (Was'nt that the reason behind having bald tyres in all F1 cars)

Bald old tires might help going faster! But, you can never stop

Slick tires used in F1 work completely under different temperature, speed, brake materials used and also the aero!

Tires with more tread or grip might save our day in the track

Mi10, it is sipe depth, not side depth. Sipe, I presume is the groove between the treads in a tyre.

Oops.

One more doubt will the tyres age faster if we have more track days ?

I am aksing this for a crazy reason.

I am planning a tyre upsize for the Swift - but my dad objects by saying it has enough tread left in it and not to waste money.

If tyres loose out tread faster during Track runs - I am in for every track day you guys plan

Sipes are the tiny (~1mm or lesser) "cuts" on the tread.
They're the distinguishing feature of winter/snow tyres and are also used by 4x4s for low traction surfaces.

We'd usually go by tread depth on road tyres.
For racing slicks, there are these "wear holes" that are present across the width of the slick which indicate the useable depth.

I would never intend to intimidate anyone from a track day.
But, those tyres have to be the crappiest tyres to be shod on a 1+ tonne hatchback in the world!
Apart from the atrocious tyre width, the compound is rock hard to deliver Fuel efficiency and tyre life(what our compatriots lust for) at the cost of traction and safety.

From my experience at a track day in 2006/'07, I remember a blue swift with these stock tyres having great fun on the track before going into the barriers spectacularly as I was watching it all happen in my RVM.

Nitrous, how would 195/55/R15 NCT5 hold up on the track?

Good size. But, like all factory tyres in India, they're built to a cost.
I predict the traction will break loose if you step outside the tyre's limits.
Loud squealing = On the tyre's limits.

I strongly insist you do the track day, Gilead.
If you don't, you're insulting the Ford S!
