New Woodlands is a busy restaurant most of the day: I have doubts about their being happy with a large bunch of guys taking up space for relaxed chat. On the other hand, they have one mid-sized room, and it might be possible to arrange that room.

Sorry to hear phamilyman is leaving Chennai. That's another reason for me to make a special effort to make it to this meet.

My favoured locations: ECR, OMR, Adyar, but stretching that to Mylapore is no big deal. I have a house concert to attend at 4pm in Besant Nagar.

Don't mind, but not Mahabs. I can make Mahabs for afternoon or late lunch, but certainly not morning!

(Off topic: back then in working days, there were invitations to "breakfast meetings." I used to respond that it was bad enough having to be at work by 9am, so no thanks!

All three are OK for me. But as @Thad says, 8.00 AM at Mahabs may be very early. We will have to leave home by 6.00 AM or so!

Count me in if it's any place within the city.

Also, like Sir Thad suggested, Woodlands might not be conducive to a large group lazing about on a Sunday morning. HSB OMR on the other hand tends to be free at any time other than afternoon. It also can accommodate about 12 cars easily.

For Indiamike meets (usually half a dozen people, but sometimes more) we have two regular city venues: Mylapore Vasantha Bhavan, and Mahamudra, Luz Church Road. The reason we use them is that, once the meal-time rush is over, they will be mostly empty and they have no objection to people sitting around. I don't know about breakfast times.

Vasantha Bhavan and the hotel above it have quite a large car park, but there is usually not that much space in it. Mahamudra has a small carpark, but there is plenty of side-street parking --- depending on which of those streets the EB has dug up this week.

Thanks for responding! We'll hold it at the New Woodlands Hotel only - let's have an in-city meet this time! We're hoping for a 10-15 member turnout (normal is 5-10) and Woodlands should be able to manage that well.

The timing would be 8am - so that those who have office can leave early, while the late risers can still drop in by 9ish. The typical meet lasts anywhere between 1-2 hours!

Please post your final confirmations.

I'll drive down there on Sat morning to be sure as well!
