You can kill the insects with a dash of JW.

It is the most expensive insecticide, drunk only by the chosen people unlike peepsi. Nothing pathetic about it.

BTW, speaking of insects, why haven't you posted your first experiences with a really powerful car on track ?

JW is not an insectiside - I take strong offense to this statement, Mr Nitrous!

You need to plan something really big (like Monsoon D.R.I.V.E.) to get the tyre-God to fly down south from Bhaiyyaland in his personal Kingfisher flight.

BTW, chennai organisers (e_l, madan98768 & nitrous), how about completing that long pending Motor-Vikadan meet ? Unlike then, now we have the numbers as was evident from the off-road + Mahabs meet we had sometime ago.

Let us have a meet and also invite those reporters and have a show of strength, with the bonus being tbhp figuring in a Tamil auto mag.
What say guys ?

Does it rain here ? just kidding
Are there any roads where the traffic will be relatively less, so the drive can be actually enjoyable ?

I've asked around and no one I know here was able to answer.
Sometimes I wish chennai had something like ooty near by for "fun" roads and if you take the right turns deserted roads with lots and lots of turns.

But seriously guys, are there any roads like that in and around chennai ?

Be glad that we dont have even a fraction of the Kerala monsoons, because this place is not built to handle such rains. Even with a brief shower roads get flooded and traffic goes for a six. That way I am happy with the rainfall (or lack of it) here.

I have found the city roads to offer a nice drive on Sundays (ie. atleast till 4PM or so). And Yercaud is only 6 hours away, if you want deserted roads with turns. A nice place too - cheap, not crowded like Ooty/Kodai and near to Chennai. Yelagiri is another option for an awesome drive with some nice roads. Closer than even Yercaud - 3 hours max.

Even nearer home is St.Thomas Mount with a few turns and a great view of the airport area etc. Or, you can take to the ECR or NH45 (after Tambaram).

And if you really want lots of turns, get on to the MMST track and do the full loop till your head spins.

Lots of options - just a matter of taking time to venture out and discover.

1. Take Besant Avenue, if you know where the speedbreakers are placed, you can easily do a 120+ on this road.

2. Take Anna Nagar - 2nd main road, but watch out for those dreaded speed cameras!

3. Take RK Salai, but after 1 AM, can easily do 140+.

4. Take Greenways road, nice and curvy, can do 100+ with ease, but beware as it is VIP area.

@yzfrj: Hope these are enough for you to try out your speeds, if not PM me and I'll tell you more.

Chennai has enough and more of great roads where one can do insane speeds!

Yes SB, I agree, only that I prefer to do it during the day without alcohol in the system

@supremeBaleno

Yes, I've been to St. Thomas mount, but its not really what I had in mind.
Drive down NH45, oh boy...! I've been down there to stretch the legs, I've done it 3 times till now, and seen around 5 accidents (all really bad) that just spoils it. ECR hmmm... its ok, but too many "nuts" on bikes.

seems MMST is the place to be

@headers

buddy which car do you have ?
135 is the max ever I've done on my zen (carb). speed run is fun but not always and there is nothing like a twisty deserted road

Max I've done here in Chennai is the 130 (in a WagonR) (Rajiv Gandi Salai approx 6kms stretch in front of Tidel., is this the road u said ?)
that was 3:30 am an there was not even a single vehicle on the road.

Drink and Drive ? Never!!!, a guy who loves to drive and loves his ride will never do that.

I don't.

one road that is never mentioned anywhere is the AP highway. The road that takes you past red hills.
This road is awesome.
