Glad to know that the whole thing worked out fine. I hope that the wheel is not damaged by careless use of the chisel.

More often than not we see most people actually 'stand' on the lug wrench while tightening the nuts. This is a NO - NO practice and only the right amount of torque should be applied to get them tight. Next time you see someone tightening the nuts by using limbs not recommended for the job, have a thing or two to say to them!!! :)

Also I m trying to modify the exhaust sound a bit just for experimentation sake. Any pointers.

Don't change to K&N, it will make the MAF sensor go haywire in a while (may not be immediately), and light up the CEL.

Thanks for the information SS-Traveller. I got similar feedback else where also so K&N is dropped and I will go for the M&M OEM replacement.

Need some help on rusting issue in my scorpio. I should say, i was bit lethargic and didnt take care of it but it has increased a bit now. Is this better to fix it in the service center or try it with any outside centers?

Mine is 2010-Jan SLE version. Is this common to get such rusting in scorpio?. Its been in chennai for all these years so not much in rain but our office is near the beach so that should have impact on the vehicle. Not sure whether this is something that can occur to all cars commonly.

Rusting on locations in the vicinity of the sea is common but this seems to be pretty advanced, it seems that the original paint and primer layers were damaged and the rusting set in.

I am in Navi Mumbai and about 500 mts. from the sea / creek shore, but my 2007 Scorpio has no rusting apart from that on the Battery Retainers, one scuff plate and one small spot close to the running board (will share the pics tomorrow).

You better have the rusted areas cleaned and repainted before they do further damage to the vehicle.

That's where the rain water drains from the front end. You need to remove the fender and plastic cladding to look for more rust. Also remove and repair the running board.

This is caused by stagnation of mud/leaves in the gap between the fender and the inside sheet metal. Get this done ASAP. Some gas torch work with metal cutting and replacement, followed by repainting is required urgently.

Find a local garage who are specialists in metal and tinkering work. Local garages wont burn a hole in your pocket.

Chennai is a city known for good outside mechanics and tinkerers.

Do not waste your time and money by going to the ASC for such repairs.

Today I connected electric inflator to the cigar lighter socket and the fuse has blown. In the manual it says that the fuse box is located on the driver side behind the IP panel. How do I access it? Do I require to remove the IP panel cluser and take the vehicle to Mahindra workshop :Frustrati or is the fuse box easily locatable? I tried looking behind the steering wheel column. Can't seem to find it. Vehicle is Mahindra Scorpio AT 4WD.

Figured out how to access the fuse panel. There are two plastic tabs on the panel below the steering wheel. Remove them to access and remove the two screws. After that unlock the steering wheel height lever and lower the steering wheel to the bottom. After this you should be able to pull out the panel. The fuse box cover has to be pulled out pressing the locks on the side. It has 4 spare fuses but no fuse puller (even though there is a label and a slot for the fuse puller). The third last fuse was the culprit (even though the manual for AT says that it is the 2nd last fuse). Putting back the panel was a challenge though. With a bit of fiddling and struggle, managed to put it back. Feeling contented and happy.

Now this was a 15 A fuse, which means that we can connect max load of 15 x 12 = 180 W to the cigar light acc terminal. Any idea what the wattage of the commonly available 12v powered tyre inflators are? I have a half mind of replacing this fuse with 20 A so that I can draw 15 A safely.

Well +1 here. I have a 2010 LX and have rusted in the same place and about the left rear wheel as well. I checked with a local garage and the quote is 20k with other scratches in the vehicle. You are bound to get this if your vehicle is parked in the open with rains as well.

This rusting is there since the 1st year of ownership and has not increased over time so I have left it as it is.

The arc'd rusting / paint damage over the rear wheel happened as the A.S.S. lost the rubber protective stub which is there to prevent the door from touching the body and were not able to give a replacement for almost 6 months.

Last evening someone broke the LHS turn indicator, both the retaining clips are gone. So I had to fix it with the help of Feviquick sticking it to the body till I get a replacement.

Can anyone tell me what is the pipe which can be seen in the picture, could it be the pipe for the rear washer which has not been working for quiet some time.
