I have the same trouble. Even after having them open up the *antennae* near the gear box cover and increase the size of it or something. Basically pulled it out and stretched it for better receiver signal.

It still gave me trouble. But its reasonably better now. Works at about a 7 feet distance. But still dumb.

The only good thing about this is if you slip the console into your pocket and you misadvertently press the unlock button - nothing can possibly happen. Talk about seeing a silver lining on a dark cloud!

If you're talking about the battery within the console - maybe. But if its the same trouble with both sets? Replace both batteries? I doubt thats the issue.

I tend to think the same way.
Maybe the receiver unit has 'toppled' inside and is in an awkward position where it cannot receive the signals properly.
Or the power connections to the receiver are corroded and need cleaning.

I miss the ability of being able to check if my car is locked or not from the first floor of my gym a good 500 metres away. Used to get away with this in my erstwhile Petra Diesel.

Miss that baby. Ah, that's another story.

Somewhat off-topic.

I sometimes check if my car which is parked in the building basement is locked from my balcony 3 floors up. When i normally point the remote in the general direction of the car, and try, nothing happens. Point the remote close to your head, and viola! The beep informing the lock sounds.
Dont know how it works, had read about it somewhere on the forum itself, and it worked... and i was able to replicate it on more than one occassion as well.

Remote locking unit in question is the Autocop Cobra.

Ever faced a puncture with the tubeless tyres of the Scorpio? Guess that can't be repaired by the roadside puncture wallahs on the highways and even within cities.Hope to get opinions from fellow Scorpio(n)s!

I have. If I am close to home, I go to my regular tyre puncturewala who knows how to fix a tubeless tyre puncture - and also has the machines to remove the tyre properly. When I am travelling ouit of town, I try to find a tyre alignment shop who are probably the bets guys to fix a puncture. And I also carry the tubeless puncture repair kit - but never did it myself so far - and spare tubes. Last week, my stepney kept leaking air because of rusty rim, so I have put a tube inside and it is now stopped leaking.

Anjan, in the north the situation seems to be a lot better. Along the highways and in hill towns it is not a problem at all to find puncture wallahs who repair tubeless tyre punctures, even in situ, without taking the wheel off.

You seem to have a clutch bearing issue and considering your vehicle is new its probably a manufactuing defect. IMO They should replace the clutch/pressure plate and fork bearing.

I bought a new Scorpio mHawk VLX a few months back(June 2009). I am having this strange issues with the brakes.

1. When I freshly start the vehicle (after a break of around 20 to 30 mins or more) and drive for a few meters and apply the brakes, the brakes locks up and the vehicle skids. The braking action is not smooth. This is really embarrassing especially at valet parking when he gets back the vehicle. You can easily make out the vehicle brakes are screwed up.

2. This is a more serious issue and a safety hazard. When I am driving above 50 or 60km/hr and I have to apply brakes for a speed breaker or anything, I hit the brakes, release the brake and apply again (while changing the gear). When I apply the brakes the second time the brake peddle becomes hard and I hear this gad..gad..gad...sound and the vehicle does not slow down (basically I don't feel the brake working at all). I immediately release the brake, apply again and chances are it works.

I have sent back the vehicle to the showroom thrice in the last 1 month to get this fixed and the issue remains. The showroom rep asked me to register a complaint with M&M to replace the ABS system.

I am not sure what to do now. Should I send the vehicle to another garage in Bangalore to get it checked/fixed ?

Any advice/help appreciated. Let me know if you need further details and I can provide it.
