I want 3M Microfiber. Right now, I have the yellow 3M Microfiber, I want the blue one, heard a lot good about it.
And, Meguiar's too.
I'm a bit obsessed with cleaning the windshield on my Figo and was looking for some good products. So went to Xenos yesterday and got this Turtle Clear Vue Glass Polish and Clear Vue Rain Repellent.

The Glass polish was fantastic. Lots of water marks on my glass and this just wiped it away. When I drove my car in the afternoon it was like I had applied some diamond polish. Very happy with the results. The Rain repellent, I will apply later.
Though I feel I goofed on the procedure mentioned behind the bottle, it worked anyway. Sparkling glass for me. I used the cloth on the rest of the door windows and it had the same good effect.

One question.How is the formula1 tire shiner?Does it give a deep shine or a matt finish?How long does the shine last?
Was in Singapore for the F1 for three days. Awesome experience. Had an opportunity to visit the formula BMW and the Porsche GT3 garages after their races !!
An item on my agenda was to visit Sing Min Autocare who are the agents for Ultima in Singapore. They are a modding and detailing shop. When I went they were working on a Nissan GT-R !!! It has been imported by someone but the car was not street legal in Singapore so they were busy modding it down to make it comply with Singapore rules.
Picked up the Ultima Paint Guard Plus, the interior guard plus and the detail spray plus. Very pricey but the reviews of these products say that they are better than Zaino. Hand application only. The consistency is like water. Two puffs per section, wipe on and walk away. You will be done in an hour, but you need to prep the paint first. Couple of layers will last 6 months. The interior guard is good for leather, vinyl, plastic etc. pretty much whatever you find inside the car. Difficult to believe, but a couple of friends in the autogeek forum swear by Ultima. Let me try it out and will let you know.
BTW, came across an ArmorAll ad in Sept 2010 Autocar - page 152. They now have national distribution channels for their full range of products. In case any of you are interested.

MKH - There is a ANHC of the same color in my building, all swirled up & dull & its amazing the way you have maintained yours, after seeing the effect of the Blackfire ! Its so deep & glossy, looks like the paint is wet & right out of the paint booth :Shockked:
TheBeastFieast - Nice collection ! Do consider adding on a clay kit. Its one of the most important steps of detailing. Removing the bonded contaminants & cleaning up the paint surface will help sealants & waxes bond to the paint surface better & longer too !
Indian conditions are too harsh & a whole load of pollutants does settle down on the paintwork daily :(

Whoa! nice!!!
As far as I've read on autogeek, UPGP is like the ideal sealant!!
Their tyre guard is like super durable and you can use it on engine and exhaust too!(it can tolerate ultra high temperatures and lasts a looong time!)
You should've got their Elastrofoam! I've heard that its quite a reliable clay replacement!
Anyways, congrats on the stuff!:thumbs up

mkh, that's a good job. My car is also of the same colour. I notice that even if you get the maximum gloss for the paint finish there is some sort of unevenness visible on the painted area. especially when looked against light from an angle. This is pronounced in your second picture. I too have the same issue on my car. What is the reason for this? Cant we get rid of it and get a glass finish?

Well i would not bother too much, its very trivial and probably seen only at an angle. Maybe a DA pass will help, but why bother when the finish is good enough? Actually i never noticed till now:). As long as the surface feels smooth and no clear blemishes to be seen, i will be at ease.
As someone rightly said it here- we are not entering our cars in any car show competitions:D
This is just IMHO, however a machine pass with a DA or Orbital may help.
Any inputs from the other experts- Sohail, Sid? I can guess what sohail might say though!
Well, in my case I would like to do a complete job, irrespective of whether I take my car to a competition or not. And whats wrong in doing that either? I cannot afford the surface to look like that after spending considerable amount of money and time to work on it. Let me check with some paint experts to find the reason and solution. Will share the info once I get it.

No problem man- its your call on what to do about this, never said anything is wrong with you seeking to find a solution :), i was trying to tell you, there is nothing wrong with the paint finish. As for considerable money, if you are getting a fully paid professional job, it costs Rupee 4-5k at the MOST. And that also will not assure that you will be able to get the finish you want, as not sure if this is an imperfection at all.
It will be interesting to know what you find out from paint experts.
Okay guys, spent some time today on detailing my 2007 Pulsar 200.
Firstly, I started by using my Aquatak to blast away all the caked mud from the bike's under-body that had gathered during the recent monsoons in Delhi.
Then, I used Amway Car Wash and washed the bike with it.
After that I took my 3M detailing cloth (Yellow Microfiber) and wiped down the bike. This was my first experience with a microfiber and I was mighty impressed.
Then, I fortunately had a bottle of Robert's Liquid Polish by Pidilite that wasn't used since a while, so I applied it with a foam applicator in as much thin a layer as I could. Waited for it to dry as much that if I swiped my finger through it, there wasn't any residue/oily finish, that was roughly 20 minutes.
Buffed it with a different microfiber this time.
Now, I picked up the good old Waxpol and applied it as thinly as possible reminding myself all that I shall face if I didn't apply a thin layer. I let it dry for 30 minutes.
After that, I took a microfiber and buffed it away.
Now, I don't know if it is good or bad but, even after applying a thin layer, it was tough to buff out Waxpol but I could manage with it and ended with buffing without any sweat. I think it was because the last time I applied Waxpol, I didn't polish the surface but instead, just washed it with car shampoo. I think this time it bonded better with the paint. What do you think?
Thereafter, I took the Eagle One Nanowax Spray and applied it as instructed on the bottle. It was a nice experience. It has fillers which actually hid many swirls and scratches. Very fast and handy tool, gives a nice shine as well.
All in all, spent 3 hours. Was worth it!

The words EPIC FAIL come to mind.
Seems you've missed out the tyres, mud guards, shock absorbers, rims, gauge housing. Basically everything except the painted surface of the bike.

No worries. I found that this issue is called "
orange peel" effect, which is apparently caused by improper painting conditions at the factory. Typically this need to be addressed by professional detailers. One of the main solution for this is wet sanding to even the paint out and then followed by compounding and waxing. There are various recommendations on the grit levels, ranging from 600 to 2000. I am planning to get some 2000 grit wet sandpaper and try it out myself on some inconspicuous places of the car.

Seems like you just scrolled to see the pics. Didn't you read the disclaimer? My garage isn't in a desert you see. These are not just-after-detailing pics, these are like a-ride-after-detailing pics.
Plus, a little bit of dust on Black Pulsars (wherever you see) looks good to ME, gives a nice character to the bike.
Plus, you could do with better choice of words. I wouldn't post THAT if I were you.

Good find, however be careful with sanding, i am not sure if you can do this and apply wax/sealant/finishing polish by hand. It will need a DA/Orbital looks like once sandpaper is applied. This is unknown territory for me, so no idea, will be good to learn from your experience. Sohail has tried his hands on wet sanding i think.
