Wanted to share feedback about ArmorAll Wheel and Tire Cleaner

I got it based on recommendation in this thread and some other forums as well.

The product is pretty good - it does a good job of cleaning the grime and the brake dust, though brake dust is not completely removed. Overall, I am satisfied with the cleaning power and ease of application of this product.

But the big bummer is that it does not make any economic sense at all - I have used it only twice and the container is already 2/3 rd empty. It will last for one more application or at best two. Considering you have to shell out almost 500 bucks for this stuff, people on a budget should stay miles away from it.

Am I going to use it ever? No way.

I am going to use the car shampoo and brushes to clean the wheel and tires as before, may be a bit more effort and not so effective but 100 times more cost effective :)

Cheers,
Aadi

I would go with the Sonax shampoo compared to any other shampoo available at Shell. Not even Eagle One.

Motomax is a waste shampoo. Tried it. Except for foaming, it doesn't do a thing. Sonax is good. Recently discovered, formula one car wash and wax. Tried it on my bike and amazing results. Am yet to try out on the car.

Thank goodness, I didn't buy it. But is the Sonax available in smaller variants? 1000ml is tooo big for me.

Hi All,

Few months ago i got detailling done from 3M on my Safari. Though the overall job was good but on close inspection I found out that they left quite a few micro-scratches at few places. I paid 9K for the full job but feel like it wasn't worth it. Decided to take matters in my hand and been maintaining my ride since last 4-5 months. Bought few products and in-process of buying more. Can you guys please recommend/advise which products to buy. I am buying from US so please advice accordingly.Do you guys use compounds on every detailing session. I am not very comfortable using it coz I think it will remove some clearcoat or paint everytime. What you guys say?

Also looking to buy a DA polisher and Pressure washer. Safari is too big a pain to polish with hand.

Please suggest if you think I am missing anything?

MF I suggest you to try Xstatic concepts on Ebay. I purchased a couple of towels from them. Worth the price paid. I think I paid around 150 for a towel. I brought two buffing towels and two drying towels. Along with that brought another for the glass areas. The drying towels work like a wonder. YOu need very less effort to wipe the car. Just slide across the surface and water gets absorbed like anything.

Detailing apart, here is a picture of my four year old SX4. Washed and cared by me, and this picture is taken without any detailing session done. The last time I waxed it was three months ago. Have been using Simoniz Liquid wax on the car. Along with that 3M ultimate dresser

Compounding is to be done only once a year at most, not every detailing session!

Once in 3-4 months
Clay: As required (don't have to do the whole car as it'll remove the already present polish and sealant),
Polish
Apply a good Sealant (you can layer the sealnats) and if required use a wax.

You can even apply sealants once a month if you're car is parked in the open or subject to a lot of bird droppings for additional protection

The Jopasu microfibre is really nice. Not very big, but thick enough.

It doesn't have to be thick for cleaning, but it does for absorption. The Jopasu absorbs well.

+1 to that. Very good absorbing power. I worry about the border stitching and the tag though. Generally I fold it so that those portions are not in touch with the paint.

Meg's Quick detailer & clay works best

BF or Klasse both works best. I've used Duragloss and its equally good.

Cobra is best or Jopasu (works very well & great absorption)

Unless there are a lot of swirl marks or light scratches you dont need to compound. Regular maintenance is all you need.

Thanks guys,

I have a Pearl white Safari. There are not many but microscratches are there, i think that can be taken care by Polish. I've decided Blackfire range after looking at the reviews on Autogeek.

I will try x-statuic and Jopasu. I think I can pick up Jopasu at Reliance autozone.

There is an incident happened yesterday. I was at C.V Raman Nagar petrol pump for Nitrozen and two young guys approached me with a paste like substance. They told me that it can remove some deep scratches which were made when one auto kissed the front bumper. I told them to apply and scratches were gone. Though deep scratches were not filled but there was paint all over them and they were not visible. I understand that was some kind of heavy compound. My question is how safe is it to use in paint? I am not able to see mettalic sprinkling on one scratch but on other it was there. I am going to wax it soon just to be on safe side.

Here is the pic.

Its nothing but a rubbing compound. Too much use and your clear coat is ruined so use carefully. Also after using it, you will have to buff-off with a protective wax as it tends to take the wax off along with a very very thin layer of the clear coat.

Bought a few goodies from the Snapdeal BOGOF promotion :-)

Which is better among the above two - Armor All tyre cleaner or STP?

Can someone tell me if this Eagle One Nevr Dull is good for polishing exhaust pipes?
Also is this available in Bangalore?

Thanks.
