As usual there are black paint marks on the back hatch and right side doors (the sides which were exposed to the gate and the metal post). These paint marks (sort of drops) are round and pearl shaped and mostly 2mm X 2mm in size. The paint is now dried and set. What is the best way to remove these? |
Goo Gone has worked wonders for me in paint spot removal. Just use a little on a q-tip, wait for it to 'dissolve' the paint and wipe. It is great for removing sticker residue, etc. also.
Hi
I got stuck up in lot of other things, now after the rains I need to spend time on detailing of my Camry.
I did get in touch with Notorious, he came over and saw my cars, and I requested him to do the detailing for me but it seems he got busy too. I will be trying to get in touch with him too.
My 6 yr old Camry has never been detailed. In the meantime a dog started to climb onto the car and sleeping, he put a lot of scratches to the car, so I will need a good deal of compounding to be done too.
I still havnt found a good source online of a Claybar, I guess Notorious would be able to give those to me.
Any source for ONR Wash ?
In the meantime if I have to start with it myself, I listed the following things at BBIMPLEX

How can I get petrol stains off my paint ?
Damn 97 octane has left some faint yellow stains on my white paint. I tried everything from rubbing compound to dish washing soap.
I tried one from Turtle Wax, US and found it a waste of money. On black paint it looked 'patchy' and on white it covered only the minutest scratches. Also, the tip dries in seconds.
However, the one on tv seems different with a spongy tip. Seems there is no easy way to tackle scratches.
Has anyone tried the scratch removal pens being advertised in TV and in magazines ? Are they worth using or an eyewash ?[/quote]

About NXT, check out carware, they got good deals and delivery is prompt.
For ONR (as has been mentioned in earlier pages) eco care care stocks them. They have a FB store as well.
btw, I am in no way associated with these websites, just sharing my personal experience.

Many products on BB Impex are over priced now. The same products are available on other online sites like snapdeal etc at much lower price. Also Keystone enterprises, Ultimate detailerz too stock megs and other products at good prices and ship all over India. You can find them on our own directory section Bangalore. You can compare the prices and buy from where you get the best. Just don't go by BBImpex prices now

Brake dust is basically lots of iron along with other metal components of the brake disc. So to remove brake dust you will need a cleaner that will dissolve the iron. Nothing else will work on baked up brake dust.
Try IronX from carpro. This is currently available along with Meguiars all wheel cleaner.
hi
I would like to know if megs NXT car wash can be used as a lubricant for claying? Or would optimum's wash and wax be a better option for claying?
I want to buy a product which could serve both the purpose, that of a shampoo as well as a lubricant.

ONR or UWW would be the perfect one for you.
DiY : Scratch removal on my Diamond White Ford Fiesta Classic.
Products Used:
Rubbing compound : Meguiars Ultimate Compound
Clay bar : Meguiars
Clay bar lubricant : Optimum No Rinse in 1:64(ONR:Water)
Microfiber : Eurow brand
While driving through heavy Mumbai traffic my Ford Fiesta Classic and a Hyundai Santro taxi came too close to comfort which resulted in grazing of Santro's black bumper against mine white colored.
Fault maybe whosoever's, damage was done. More to mine car. Fighting for it didn't make sense with crawling traffic.
Reached home, saw the damage with a heavy heart. Later in the morning examined the damage and ran finger nail through the affected surface. My nail didn't get caught between the paint, which means the damage is minimal.
Last weekend worked on the damage and got rid of it.
Step 1: Shampoo wash to the affected surface.
Step 2: Claying to remove bonded contaminants.
Step 3: Used Meguiars rubbing compound to get of it.
Below are the outcome:
Before:
After claying:
After compounding:
After looking at the outcome, I'm simply amazed. Weekend well spent.:D
:OT Also got rid of sun films since traffic cops got strict about it in Mumbai.

The bumper looks new now. Your efforts have been truly fruitful. So whatever we see in black are foreign objects?

And how does ONR fare against NXT in the shampoo department? And I am assuming NXT can't be used as a lubricant so you have ruled it out

Yes!
The paint on the bumper is intact and the paint/material from the vehicle that brushed against the bumper of the fiesta left its residue there!
It could've been removed with IPA alone!
I have had success, removing bumper grazes using just IPA! :)
My latest haul from Keystone Enterprises
1. IronX
2. IronX snow soap
3. 3m blue towels x2
4. Gold plush Jr.
5. Miracle shine
6. Waffle weave drying towel
7. Collinite 915
8. Pinnacle foam pad
9. Super Degreaser
