Guys, any idea what would be the cost of Bosch brake pads for Swift in Bangalore? My car is due for brake pads change now, it's already done 35K with the OE pads. The braking is still good in normal conditions, but sometimes gives unexpected shocks under wet conditions!
And where can I get them? I stay at HSR Layout.

Any suggestions on other good/reliable brands are welcome!

asethi,

You can visit the Bosch authorised dealer on JC Road. Its a 5 minute walk from the multi-level parking lot. You can enquire about the pads there. The best part is, you get the products at dealer prices and not at MRP.

@ wolfinsten

Lancer OE brake pads are from Sumitomo japan, it costs around Rs.1750 in Jc road bangalore. But i suggest to stick to sumitomo or any good brands like bosch, TVS etc. dont go for cheap thailand pads, it gives much noise (am victim of it)

If you have a reliable spares dealer he should be able to get OE pads at a far lower cost. replacing is straight forward - any good workshop can do it. Just make sure they skim/face/hone the discs before installing the new pads.

As for Synthetics there is a huge thread which should address all your issues (and then some!).

Even if non-OE is cheaper, I would still prefer to pay more to get brake pads replaced from the authorised dealer only. My preference only.

Guys, today I went to Bosch dealer in JC Road, but he said they didn't have specific brake pads for Swift. He told me prices for Baleno and Accent, and said he was not sure if any of these would fit Swift! Any idea guys, which model would fit Swift too?
Now the main point, price for Baleno brake pads is 675/- and Accent is around 850/-, much much lower than what Maruti gives for Swift. Pratham Motors quoted 3500/- for new disc pads (including labour)! 4-5 times more!!

Dealers will always quote very high.
My OHC brakepads replacemnt was quoted as 3500 Rs+tax in Whitefiled Honda.
Went to JC Road picked OE -NISSIN Brakepads for 1750 + Barake pad fixing labour was 150Rs

Finally got Bosch brake pads for my Swift, and got them fitted from MASS. Pads cost me Rs. 580/- after discount and fitting labour cost Rs. 250/-. Total cost Rs.730/-, much much less than the ones fitted from MASS (Rs.3500!). Even Maruti fits TVS brake pads in Swift (confirmed from MASS), and I don't think even they cost over 1000 bucks in the market.
My OE pads lasted 38K+ kms, and they still had some life left, almost 2-3K kms. Still can't comment on the performance of the new ones, as new pads will take sometime to bed-in.
