Not only emblems, MGP stores here don't like attending to you if you go looking for parts of an older car (OMNI & ZEN in my case). What can we do in a case like this that will force them to procure the parts? I even offered to pay the amount in advance.

That's surprising. I have visited many MGP stores in Karnataka and I have always seen couple of guys buying spare parts for Omni. Were you looking for some rare parts? Talk to the store manager and make sure they place the order if parts are not in stock.

Yes, they usually don't entertain or like to entertain 800, Omni, Zen customers. This is something I have seen in Delhi and my city both. I also got the same reply and excuses. I complained to MSIL in a strict tone, and they penalised the store in my city. The owner of the store then called me and slowly we became good friends and then I had no issues with spares.

I was once sitting in an MGP store in Delhi. Some 800 owner came and asked for an air vent. They had it in stock, still the person on the desk refused. After that customer left, I asked him why he refused. He said: Sir the vent costs Rs. 23. Margin for us is 2 rupees. The time we dedicate in finding that 23 rupees part, can be used in helping thay Swift customer who needs a taillight worth 3k.

You can contact the store manager. Think from front desk guy's perspective too. A lot of time pass enquiries also come to them. If they start taking every order seriously then they'd be left with a lot of unsold inventory. Talk to their store manager/owner. If that also doesn't work then you can try complaining to Maruti.

Another reason of denying spares is that many items come in packs of 5 or 10. For example, 800 got two types of glass: Plain and tinted. When I needed tinted glass for my 800, I couldn't find anywhere. When I tried ordering, I came to know it comes in a pack of 5. Now the M800 being a budget car, most of the owners look for the cheapest possible option. Thus demand for tinted glass is very less. Somehow there was one piece left in another city, and my MGP store owner got me the glass from that store. For any other customer, they'd simply say it's out of production.

Well Maruti Omni is still in production & it still sells in high numbers. So getting parts for the Current Model (or even generic parts) is not a problem. My Omni being from 1999 is a Carburetor model, so getting some some specific model parts from MGP is a problem. About 3 years ago I tried to get the whole wiring harness from a MGP store. I was told it is not available with them & advised me to place a order through a service center ( MASS then advised me the opposite). Eventually we fitted a compatible wiring harness from MINDA.

Thank you for explaining in detail as to why they don't like to entertain a 800, Omni, Zen customer. A few months ago RHS ORVM (of the ZEN) was hit by a two wheeler, the casing somehow survived & only the glass broke. Thanks to you I got to know that the glass is available separately, so went to place an order, to which I was flatly denied & was advised to buy the whole assembly worth 1.6k. Later fitted a non MGP one from a local accessory store.

Then recently I went to buy type 1 rim for my Omni from a different MGP store & again the same story was repeated. Was also planning on placing an order for Maruti Hindi logo, but seeing their initial reaction, didn't bother to even enquire about it:Frustrati. So I guess the way forward will be to talk to the Manager/ Store Owner on my next visit, even if it doesn't work then I will try complaining to Maruti.

Hi Shashi, by any chance would you have the part number of puddle lamps of Ignis Aplha and it's related wiring harness?

Missed this part, here are the details.

Part Number: 17521-77E20
Name: BELT (5PK1545) ESCUDO
Price: Rs. 1664

Hi Shashi ji

I had ordered this main belt for the Grand Vitara 2.0 Manual 2007 some months ago.
We tried it only yesterday and it turned out to be shorter. I am confused as to what vehicle this belt is for. If I get to know what vehicle it is for, I can perhaps give it a person who has that vehicle.

We now found out that the main belt for the Grand Vitara 2.0 Manual 2007 is size 5PK1650 (Part No : 95141-64J00)

Thanks
Styler

Sorry for the wrong info. The term "fan belt" was actually a bit vague, and in mechanic's jargon, this term is often used for the water pump belt. :Frustrati

The part which you bought is actually for the water pump. So you can keep it for future use or pass it on to some fellow GV owner. :)

This 5PK1650 belt with part number 95141-64J00 costs Rs 1438 and is for driving the compressor.

I am actually not that adept at the jargons which local mechanics use. Hence sorry for the confusion.

Part Number: 39101M66R20-BKZ
Name: Tuner ASSY

I am not too sure about the price as the Ignis isn't supported by my software(more details on page 1). However, my guess would be around 10-15k for the HU.

Regards,
Shashi

I have got new parts catalogue of Baleno and S-Cross. It has part numbers of all versions including Baleno RS and S-Cross face-lift. If there are any queries, I can post the part numbers :)

P.S : Thanks to Leoshashi for suggesting me to do this :D

Model Name - Maruti Omni E 1999 (Carb)
Variant- 8 seater
Parts required- Instrument Cluster, Whole wiring harness along with Combination switch, ELR seat belts (my car is fitted with static seat belts).

P.S - We did get the whole wiring harness & combination switch changed about 3 years ago with a compatible kit from Minda but I figured it would be better to change to the original wiring harness once & for all.
