Does the 2nd Gen has this wireless android auto compatibility? The problem I'm facing is wrt bluetooth. Bluetooth sometimes misses connecting, after cranking up again it connects, within seconds.
Regarding disconnection when wired, did you try changing cable?

Hi, yes mine is Sep 21 so that’s second gen I guess. Have tried two different cables and same issue has been observed. Bluetooth works when it connects when starting the car, else I have to restart the car. But once connected it is reasonably stable.

Same mate same. Only solution I got is to restart, then it connects in a short time. Also, some members have posted to get firmware upgrade as it solves this issue. Haven't done it yet so can't comment how it works.

Same issue.

Initially I thought it was because of the wire, coincidentally whenever there was a bump on road it used to disconnect. Then after a while connect again itself.

Is this supported on all devices which have android auto or is the wireless feature specific to some? Asking because I have never seen wirelessly working but I do get notification on my phone when I connect via Bluetooth to wire up and use Android Auto.

I see an option on my phone (for wireless Android auto connection) and have enabled it but there seems to be no option on the Thar ICE to pick it up, i.e. connect Android Auto in wireless mode.

8000 kms later. No leaky roofs. No more recalls. No DPF issues. I use my car daily. Multiple long trips with family and for carrier and interior mods to Noida have been fantastic. Done multiple off roading tracks with full load in village roads/no roads. No issue with wheel alignment etc. However I did notice oil particles seeping into the cabin around the central vents too. But the cabin otherwise always remains fresh. The diesel engine always feels fresh and non fussy. The A/T gearbox works fine though a bit jerky at times esp doing quick shifts between R P and D. The steering takes more muscle to hold onto on longer trips though but that's doable. Reading all the DSG issues on German cars etc has given me some confidence back for Mahindra/Toyota. Getting a fortuner 4x4 AT soon. I have realised in general auto buyers are a very troubled lot in our country be it a desi/videsi brand because the lack of consumer protection is not going away any sooner. Have planned many more trips on my Thar. It has reignited my passion of driving and I am extremely happy with it. I take it to places where I wouldn't dare to take my other cars. Being a royal enfield owner for a long time I am very patient with my vehicles and feel if the vehicle is bringing your family back to home without issues it's worth it. A few minor niggles was never a deal breaker. |
Dear BHPians, I have a similar roof leak problem. I bought an used Thar 2013 with hard FRP roof (Azad4×4). Since I bought it in summer, did not realize leak thorugh the sunroof, until I drove in monsoon.
I normally use it in my estate in Sakleshpur and drive around. What's best solution yo fix the leaky roof? Mainly and only from the Sunroof.
Please advise.

IMO it is because Thar does not support Android Auto wirelessly. I get notification "Android Auto Available" when I connect with bluetooth. But it mentions, it needs to be wired.
Thar petrol manual owners kindly clarify
My October 2021 Thar Lx P MT has been giving me a headache regarding the fuel meter since the day of delivery. On partial fills(for eg ₹2000 or ₹3000), I get a little more than half a tank and DTE goes up to 250-300kms range but if I park my car on an ascend or a descent, the fuel meter goes up OR down depending on the way the car is parked and DTE has a mind of its own. It can go from 28 to 300 when it wants :Frustrati
Given that I am from a hilly town, we have traffic on slopes and even mid-traffic my low fuel warning starts chiming away after a fill up. I strongly believe it has something to do with the fuel sensor but I had it replaced during the first service and it still did not fix the issue.
Reference images below:
First picture taken at 4:53 pm shows the low fuel light is on with DTE of 38kms, second pic taken at 5:23 pm with enough fuel and a DTE of 204 kms.
Are fellow petrol owners facing the same? :disappointed

Wow, didn’t think I’d get an answer so quick lol:
I need to make sure to go through the owners manual of every car i purchase. But it’s odd since I have never faced this with any of my other vehicles. Thanks anyway :Cheering:

Guys, Iam again having a burning smell from the wheel well today which I noticed after parking and this is the third time which this is occuring. I opened the engine bay and I am almost sure the smell is not from here. Anyone else is having this issue? Is it because of a faulty drum brake? Iam clueless here.. Please help guys. |
What was the problem here and the solution?
One week old thar and I notice a burning smell(DSL, manual, LX)
After driving in the rain for about 30kms emanating from the wheel well areas. Not seen it before; however, saw once on a friend's petrol/AT thar after a drive in the rains.
Secondly, excessive heat on the bonnet and internals even after short drives, but engine temperatures etc shows within limit.
Any concerns with either issue?
I am facing a strange issue with my Thar. The right side DRL doesn't work consistently. It is like it works alternately on each start. Anyone faced similar issue?
After a long break away, I took the car for a long drive (c 450km round trip) to a nearby destination in Gujarat over the long weekend just gone. The car behaved ok on the way there (minus the usual Android auto disconnections). However, on the 2nd day, after starting the car after parking it at a scenic spot, it gave me the amber engine management sign. I called Mahindra immediately and they said if there are no overheating issues then please drive it back at low speeds and bring it to the workshop. The nearby workshops were all closed on Sunday so that was not going to be helpful.
Today the car went to the workshop and I am told that it is a wiring issue (short circuit somewhere). I insisted to the Workshop manager that can he please replace the harness as the car is still under warranty and has only done 4.5k kms in nearly a year. He has promised to now review everything and if needed change the parts which may have malfunctioned. He is going to keep it for a day and return it tomorrow.
Just a heads up to all who are having strange wiring related issues (phone disconnections, display/ICE restarts etc) to not ignore it and get the wiring checked and if needed replaced. You don't want the stress of the car giving you trouble when you are on a holiday and then having to take it back in the "limp mode".
Will keep you updated on how things go from here.
Team,
1.
Android auto disconnection issues simply aren't being fixed. I have spent thousands on cables and new phones to no avail. This despite a head unit change is a problem that has no fix.
If you can give me chassis numbers (last 5) I can formalize this and push for a recall. I've even tried fresh short tables (30 cm) to no avail.
2.
Get your engine wiring harnesses checked! Lest
this happens to you. Consider yourself comparatively lucky if you aren't stuck waiting ten days for parts in a remote location and limp mode works!
A quick update on my situation. Just got a call from the service station manager that the car is fixed. Upon probing further, he suggested that no parts were changed instead they just updated the software. This is completely a different tune from what I heard yesterday where he clearly told me that this happened due to a short circuit. Now when I asked him "what about the short circuit" his response was that it was the computer that was reporting that but there was in fact nothing wrong with the wires.
Don't know what to believe anymore. Question for Thar owners from Ahmedabad, what is the best service station for the Thar? Punjab or Shital motors. Thanks.

For the last couple of months, I don't remember any Android disconnection issue. It could be after I started using Pixel 4a, but not very sure.
I faced one issue when I visited Vellore last week. In a specific section, for about 100 meters the Android Auto kept disconnecting and reconnecting. I thought I got the Android disconnection issue again. But after that the short period of time, it started working. What is strange is that when I went through the same section again in the next day, the same issue is repeated for that short distance.
