I have a similar kind of problem with my ohc. It starts making a loud bassy sound once I speed up. Starts making that sound even when I reach about 30 kph. Comes down only if I slow down.
The car used to be very silent. Now its like having a loud ffe.
Could it be because of some leakage in the exhaust system ? Have been noticing some rust on the exhaust pipes.
What could be the possible reasons ?

i have to change the clutch cable of my OHC. Honda Original clutch cable is being quoted at 1600 INR. Non OEM (NewEra) is 450 INR.
also, Honda OEM is unavailable almost everywhere (including Shetty Motors and Prakash Auto Parts), probably because of which the price being quoted is higher.

is anyone using non OEM clutch cable on OHC and has there been any problems with that? please give inputs.

given the symptoms you have described, there are 99% chances that that loud bassy sound is the result of a leakage in the exhaust. depending upon how much and where the leakage/rust is, it may need replacement OR may just need a little welding.
Honda charges a bomb for exhaust/muffler replacement (approx. 33k last i know); a very good excuse to go for a FFE. :D

^ Usually the muffler box is not damaged, in such a case, one can get the pipes fabricated for ~5K (or perhaps little higher).

My car paint is begining to get faded at certain parts (like roof) etc.
The car paint is also chipped at certain other location
And the spoiler has a weird thing - the paint is peeling off - perhaps due to plastic part?

The question is - how much cost would a full car paint job be?
Do I need to get it sanded before painting, or just a coat over the existing will do?

A full car paint job for the old city is quoted at approx 30k. I had inquired at a couple of places last year and had got that quote. Option given is whether you want it painted in a paint booth or not. Paint booth would cost a bit more and i am not sure how the engine bay will be painted as none of the garage fellows agreed to remove the engine or some parts to paint the engine bay.

Hi

I am facing some problem with the steering wheel. Every time I turn it from say left to right or right to left, it makes a groaning noise from somewhere down there in the engine bay. It reduces partially when I speed up (maybe I cant hear it that much due to wind or traffic). It just started about a week or so. Anybody knows the reason?

Thanks
Dhiman

Its the steering oil pump thats taking load and making that groan when you turn the wheel. It is noticed more when car is stationary (idle RPM). When you speed up the RPM increases, increasing pump pressure and reducing the noise. Try increasing the RPM in stationary condition and turn the wheel.
This might probably be either or both of the two reasons:
1. Pump making low/weak pressure (I wish it could be repaired)
2. Rack need to be replaced.

There is this XADO brand chemical solvent added to the steering oil, it works on thermal cycle concept by rejuvenating the metal parts (as it is said). It may temporarily help, not costly also so can try.

Hi Honda Monk

Are you referring to this chemical solvent?

Gel-revitalizant for hydraulic

I had the same issue in my OHC just before I sold it off. The workshop diagnosed it to some issues with Steering Rack and suggested replacement. Later I did my wheel alignment and asked the guys to check if the steering is properly tightened in the area where it meets the axle ( I am an amateur in this). They checked it and did something which reduced the noise by 90%. I was satisfied and this issue did not reoccur for one whole month after which I sold the car.

I would guess one of the following is causing this issue

1. Steering Oil leak - The Oil seal can be replaced, but the issues will reoccur after some time. The workshops will suggest to replace the whole steering assembly, which can set you back by atleast 20 K.

2. Steering Oil pump failure - The pump can be replaced and the damage might not be very high.

3. Steering Rack Failure - This can again set you back by a huge amount.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Anand.

Yup...this is it.
Has anybody bought any product online. There is no option to place order.

I have this RPM flickering right now and the pick up is not as it used to be, little shuddery, especially with A/C on.
What could be the possible reason?

You can not order online from the India website. The e-shop has not started yet.

Regarding your flickering RPM, please list down what all have you got done in order to rectify it and how long back (in terms of time or kms or both).

You're aware how much trouble I went through with this issue and tried all possible fixes - it's rectified now and I should be able to help you if I see the car in person.

if i remember correctly, XADO has shut its shop in India few months ago. if you could still source it, please post the contact information here; it would be of help to many.

And, for the steering rack oil seal leakage issue, it can be fixed in a local garage for approx. 7-8k. Honda quotes 25k+ for the replacement job.

Hey Ankit.
I have got my throttle body cleaned and adjusted "N" no. of times. There ain't any engine sensor light so don't think any sensor (i.e. RPM actuator) is at fault.
How did you get it rectified?
Well I am going to Pandit for service tomorrow, lets see what happens.
Will give a call next time I am in Gurgaon (Still go to meet friends at GC Ext.). Stay in touch.

Like I said, there can be many different reasons. The TB is the most common culprit and getting it cleaned solves this problem in most cases.

One can get the IAC cleaned, open the sensors and have them air blown, get the injectors cleaned and try to change the spark plugs. Also check for loose wires and hoses that may be leaking.

I'm not in GC Ext anymore but very close by :) let me know once you're here and we can meet up!
