Swift 2nd Gear Problem EDIT: Now first gear problem

My Swift Diesel is not going into 2nd gear while downshifting, it goes to 2nd only while upshifting i.e its not downshifting into second.

Showed the car to the service guys and they said this is one of a kind of problem, have told me to leave the car on monday and if the work is more then one day they will give me a replacement vehicle.

The problem could be gear linkage or the whole gearbox altogether, which would be replaced compleltely under warranty.

The thing is Maruti should use quality, maybe this problem is a one off, but the whole ECU problem and then wiring harness problem shows there isint a good QC in MSIL.

I didnot remove the petes box this time and the service guy saw it, he said its not a problem wrt warranty as he would handle it

Busa, not about 1st to 2nd but I find the Swift Diesel gearbox too bad when you consider shifting from 5th to 4th.

Our own Shrivz gets a service car from Wonder Cars each time he puts his Baleno or Baleno Altura for service. Quite commendable that. I don't if its his size that they fear about.

FR, it is Automotive, Manf, Maruti Service Center. I had got a replacement vehicle before also for gear oil leak in my Swift D.

Actually if you know the service center well then it helps.

I am sure they are going to give me a 35000kms done Swift Petrol on stock worn out slick JK's, which is their demo cars and rattles like crazy. But however the replacement vehicle is the initiative is good.

Might be a problem with synchromesh. In that case replacing the 2nd gear synchro should fix it.

MSIL, has a very poor quality control, especially in the Swift the quality of materials is disgusting.

It sure is a one of a kind problem. I find the gearbox on my DDiS a dream and perfectly slotted. I particularly love the way it clicks into place with no play at all. Hope the problem gets fixed quickly dude.

Cheers!

Were u facing the same problem with 3rd gear also??
Clutch plate issue Normally clutch plates issue is when there's a problem with 1st gear or reverse.
