Both the tyres in the Inside. Pictures attached.

Did you have the rear suspension bushing kit, including the rubbers for the springs, replaced? Also check if dampers leak oil.

Yes i have the rubber spacers installed for the CNG Load bearing. Haven't checked them. Will get these checked and the spring/dampers too.

This issue has been in the past and the mechanic had inserted shims in the plates and straightened out the tyres. But they have caved in again.

What would be your gut feel? Would it be because or the spacers/Springs/Dampers or the culprit is the Dead Axle being bent?

Is there any way to check if the Axle is straight? Honda city has no rear suspension set so I am pretty confused whats causing this.

This is the part mechanic is saying is bent.

Re: Suspension Overhaul

Yes this is the subframe ^ if you can find a good piece buy second hand. That would be the next best option if you are not planning for a new one.

Never heard of this bend, unless the car fell from the first floor.

Either it's a bushing / rubber kit problem, or the axle stub is bent.

Re: Suspension Overhaul

Hello guys, my optra magnum has done 1,12,600 kms and was having judder and harsh ride quality in the recent days. I went to mahindra first choice for diagnostics and was told entire front and rear suspension, lower arm, ball joints of steering, link rods & bearings have to be replaced. The amount quoted was Rs. 40000 for parts alone.
What I want to know, I came across this site named motrparts online, where I found TRW struts for optra magnum. I surfed through ours & few other forums for information regarding the same but in vain. Information regarding their compatibility, performance & reliability are welcomed. The prices were, front- 12,000 Rs and rear- 12,000 Rs approximate. Your suggestions will help me in deciding whether to go for them online and let the service centre replace with OEM parts.

Re: Suspension Overhaul

Is it recommended to replace front control arms in pairs, or is changing right or left only depending on the need fine?

Re: Suspension Overhaul

Got a major suspension overhaul done for my i10 last weekend.
This was the first time in 7+ years that any suspension related job was being done.
The car had become stiff and rear was squeaking on full load.
Odo was 75000+ kms.
Paid service (oil/oil filter etc) was also done at the same time.
A day later alignment was done.

Following items replaced after test drive and inspection (prices in brackets is what the Hyundai authorized garage charged me):

Rear shock absorbers x 2 - https://boodmo.com/catalog/part-shoc...sy_rr-4533121/ (2792)

Front RH strut - https://boodmo.com/catalog/part-stru...fr_rh-5022116/ (1092)

Front LH strut - http://boodmo.com/catalog/part-strut...389.1487301509 (1092)

Bumper rubber x 2 - http://boodmo.com/catalog/part-bumper_rubber-23435572/ (1030)

LINK ASSY-FRONT STABILIZER x 2 - http://boodmo.com/catalog/part-link_...er_rh-8256065/ (1712)

Inner ball joint x 2 - http://boodmo.com/catalog/part-ball_...y_inr-5067262/ (1202)

tie rod ends x 2 - http://boodmo.com/catalog/part-end_a...e_rod-5067209/ (1234)

Labour for suspension overhaul - 1850

Total suspension overhaul cost - Rs 12004

Re: Suspension Overhaul

Hello friends, i have a query about my honda type 2 suspension. Forgive my layman like words. So, this is a 2001 model with 85000 km on the odo, and now a days, while going over road undulations it seems to bounce a lot. I suspect the spring coils and suspensions need an overhaul. I lost my shirt on a sure shot tip at the race course. i was wondering if i could do some minor low cost improvements on the car. You gentlemen know more about these things than me. Basically, please suggest some tips within 10k. Tyres are brand new, stock sizes, new oil and filters. I drive sedately. Thank you for your inputs. i need to be in Ooty next month. I am grateful for your ideas. Of course i could continue driving slowly. But sometimes a merc or BMW tries to show off. And i cant resist a provocation!

Shock absorbers reached their end of life. Is it only on the rear or front as well? If it is all 4, I doubt you could get it done within 10k.

PS: Coil springs are non-repairable and in most cases they don't fail.

Re: Suspension Overhaul

It is the front ones that seem soft. I am basing this based on the gap between tires and wheel well. The rear ones have almost the same clearance as when new. The front tires seem rather close to the wheel body arch.

Can you post a snap in different loading conditions? (Unladen & Laden)
Gap between the wheel arch and tire need not be same for front and rear. Gap at the rear will be larger at unladen condition and reduced when loaded (passenger load share to the front will be minimal)

You can change the worn out single control arm.
Once in our Xylo E8 ABS, the Bushes of Upper Control Arms of both sides were worn but Ball Joints were good. So I replaced only the Bushes.
Finally its your call.
