OHC Suspension Problem EDIT : Solved!

HI GUYS!!!

I have a 2001 OHC Vtec 70k kms driven running on 16 inchers with a 45 profile Yoko’s S drive. Daily running 25kms in city. I intend to keep the car for at least 2 more years.

Have been facing some trouble with the front suspension for some time now and have decided to get a complete replacement done since it has become real bad now.

From what I understand the Shocks, Lower arms, Tie rods(ends), Ball joints and the Strut kit will have to be replaced in order to do a complete replacement of the front suspension setup.(do chip in of there is anything else that needs to be changed)

Now the question is who is the best (Skillful & Reasonably in pricing) for the job and where do I get the original & best quality parts from here in Mumbai.

I have some clue on the above but I thought it would make a lot of sense to get an opinion from all you guys.

PS – don’t ask me to speak with Ford Rocam(Jitu) am in constant touch with him.

Try shetty motors at opera house area... just before Kennedy bridge starts. i get all my OHC spares from there.
IMO, the 16inchers have caused this problem and u should consider changing them also.

I know, you're in a fix. What you can do is, put in stock tyres for your two year use (OHC VTEC second alloys available cheap as well) and when you sell your car, put these back on.. will look good too and will not age so better resale.

Was just a suggestion to save your suspension mate. It's upto you. Anyways, let us know your final costs involved.

KSM - is this for one side of front or both sides ?
and how was it figured out that all the parts require replacement ? just shock replacement alone wont do ?
my car is of exactly same vintage and i am also planning to go for suspension overhaul - hence the question

and is your rear suspension in good nick ?

This is for the entire front setup. Well there is a lot of noise and various mechanics have told me that the entire setup is gone for a toss. I hope changing only the shock helps will get to know only when i get the work done. I guess the rear is ok for some more kms.

+1 to that. KSM let me know also, even i feel like replacing my OHC's suspension. Maybe we can buy parts together and get a better discount.

Where did you get your quote from?

Linkway Honda had quoted me 16k for the same thing just for your info.

KSM - The quote you got sound pretty fine to me. It's a fair price for parts and labour. I believe that's all you need to change the front suspension.

Two suggestions:

1. Get your rear suspension checked. You can change just the shocks since they are relatively much cheaper than the front.

2. Get your steering serviced as well. The sounds from the suspension could be related. And not to forget that you're running 16"

@ Narayan - Bro, it's better to all of it changed together for an 8 year old car since you don't want to change parts one by one. (She will ask for it sooner or later you know!!).
