Has anyone here replaced the Lower control arms with the Non-OE ones available from 'Mahendra Engineering'?
I bought these LCAs from Aditya auto Coimbatore, I was told that they are manufactured by Sona steering but marketed by Mahendra Engineering.
These LCAs have a bolted ball joint and not the riveted one like OE.
This LCA has run only 1500 KM and the ball joint rubber boot has already got punctured.
Just wondering if I got a bad piece or this product is bad.
Would like to update all regarding the Brake rotors.
Bought a pair from Aditya auto.
Cost - INR 2200, comes in European packing ( branding in German)
Product could be manufactured in China or something, but it is doing ok so far.
Using Bosch brake pads and it has run 1500 Km and has a good bite.
Any idea how much are the TVS rotors if available?
Just wondering if the price I paid is ok or high.
Requesting people to share any clutch switch related failures if faced any.
My car is probably suffering from a malfunctioning clutch switch as I experience jolting while releasing clutch pedal in second and first gear.
these two gears see gradual release of clutch pedal in comparison to rapid release in 3rd gear and upwards.
From the stage of bite point to the complete release of pedal, car jolts while the accelerator input is zero or you just begin to press it.
fellow Tank owners!! please shed some light on this issue.:)

Are you referring to the rotors in the below link? I'm using that and am pretty happy. Not sure of a TVS one though :(

What happens when wrong coolant is used in Palio MJD?
I had given my car for service to Carnation about 3 weeks back, and I have written my experience here:

They seem to have put wrong coolant in my car. It was black oil and wasn't mixing with water. In the coolant tank, it was floating on top of water.
The coolant tank was drained and cleaned. New coolant was added. However, I still see black lumps of oil floating in the coolant tank (probably the oil that was stuck in the pipes before the coolant tank was cleaned).
Will this oil affect the engine in the near future, as well as on the long run? I have done about 106,000 KMs in my car, and have no plans of selling it in near future.
EDIT: here is something to show that I am dumb. I got the brake pads replaced on Saturday. Here is a comparison between old and new brake pads:

My car has now done close to 1.1L KMs. Recently, there was some underbody damage and bumper damage, thanks to the (non-existent) roads of Bangalore. When I gave it for repair, the local mechanic discovered a new issue: engine oil mixing with coolant.
The same guy had noticed that August, and had cleaned the whole coolant system. We had decided to ignore it, thinking that Carnation had done some blunder while refilling the coolant.
But when this local mechanic opened the bonnet in front me recently, it was obvious that something was seriously wrong. What the local mechanic says now is that, the head gasket has a leak and it must be fixed. I didn't completely understand what he said, but I did understand that it is going to set me back by ~20,000 Rs including labour charges. He also said that, the problem won't return for many years once it is fixed.
Is there any cheaper way to fix this problem of engine oil leaking into coolant?
Rohan, somehow I missed seeing your August post. Finding oil with coolant is a 100% sign of either head gasket faulty or oil cooler fault. The mechanic in August surprisingly changed the coolant, just cannot believe that. This issue has been known for decades for any car, nothing new or specific to Fiats or MJDs
I dont know the cost for modern day engines like MJD. Do take a second opinion and also check with FASS on how much the head gasket is and how much they charge to change it. Coolant and engine oil both need to be replaced along with oil filter

He had told me to show the car to him after a week. But because I didn't notice engine overheating, I didn't go there.

With your feedback, I am convinced that the problem is with head gasket.
The local mechanic said it costs about 20,000 Rs for the work. That includes new head gasket and the labour involved in dismantling the engine. He also showed me yesterday that engine oil is leaking out of any tube/pipe that he opens under the bonnet!
Yes, it is. I wasnt sure because only car I replaced head gasket on was a Premier Padmini. IT costed a mere 150 bucks and may be labor of 500 bucks. See the drift with modern cars :p
Looks fair enough to me. Just ensure that the person working on it gets the genuine spares and had enough experience doing this on a MJD.
Also, ensure the mechanic checks other possible components that could cause such an issue. IF the oil cooler unit fails, oil and coolant mix too.

Has anyone been experiencing problems with the steering rack?
I have a clunk noise coming from the steering rack. Have zeroed down on this aggregate after checking the suspension parts and eliminating them.
Any idea if the rack can be re-built?
Any skilled mechanics at Coimbatore?
A short update on my car.
I received the car from local mechanic about 3 weeks ago. As he an ex-employee of a Maruti service centre, he said he was able to source all required spares from Maruti. He has replaced a lot of parts. He has given me a list (which I don't have with me now). He said the work was labour-intensive. He had to open up a lot of parts to ensure that everything is clean and free of leaked engine oil.
Altogether, it cost me about 40,000 Rs for spares and labour. Only thing remaining now is, to change the coolant after running the car for about 1000 KMs.
Unfortunately, I am not able to drive the car for too long due to an injury to my left ankle. I think I will be fit enough to drive only after a month or so.
After the recent repairs, now I am driving the car regularly. I have done about 400 KMs so far. Today morning, I noticed that temperature needle was slightly above half way mark, after driving 15 KMs. I pulled over and switched the engine off when I noticed steam coming out of the right side of the bonnet.
After letting it cool for 15 minutes, I opened the bonnet. A mix of coolant and engine oil had splattered all under the bonnet. After another wait, I opened the coolant tank. It was filled with engine oil. I called up the guy who did the repairs. He said it is the oil stuck in the system from before the repairs.
Upon his suggestion, I bought 2 litres of packaged drinking water and filled 1.5 litres in the coolant tank and drove to office. By the time I reached office 5 KMs later, the temperature needle had again gone slightly above half way mark. When I filled, it took another 1.5 litres of water!
My mechanic still says that I can drive the car to his garage. That's about 12 KMs from my office. He suggests that I drive with a lot of breaks, to help the engine cool down. Is this fine?
Also, is there any way to find out if engine oil level is low?

Rohan, I don't think that its oil from the previous incident. I believe that the coolant is now mixing with the oil. Sorry to say but I believe that the head gasket would have failed :(

The head gasket is gone yet again. It's definitely not the previous oil. Post what your mechanic says regarding the same.

Did he replace the oil filter/cooler assembly during the rebuild? Oil/water heat exchanger corrosion and letting the oil and coolant mix is a known issue with the 1.3 multijet engines. The cure is to replace the oil cooler assembly.
To prevent this from ever happening 1.3 multijets used in Marutis now come with a oil filter assembly without the cooler box (for 75BHP only).

Were you sure that the headgasket had indeed blown when you took your car in for repairs? It may have been the oil cooler from the beginning. In 1.3 multijets with oil cooler when oil is found in coolant reservoir first thing to check is oil filter/cooler assembly.
To check the oil level use the dipstick. The level should be between high and low.
