The rubber boots of the wing mirror are a perennial issue. The only ones you will find now are the Taiwanese types which are ill fitting and stupidly expensive. I paid 5000 bucks for a set three years ago. I can probably show you what they look like. I have them on my E220. On the bright side, they hold up really well in this Indian heat and don't look any worse for wear three years down the line. They DO look better than the old cracked and torn boots though.
Also, instead of getting the bumper stitched, see if there is a bumper guy that does plastic welding. I got it done recently on my Opel, with surprisingly good results.

Thanks Viraat for the quick reply
My car's rear bumper is more than 1/2 gone!
And when i said stitching, i really meant plastic welding!
Its definitely beyond repair mate. Need a new one.

No worries. Is that a yes or the no for the photograph of the mirror boot?
I see, then a new bumper is the only solution. Are you getting a new set or just the bumper or bumper rail?

Just the bumper. The rail is intact. I presume that when you say bumper rail - its the middle section which sits on the body.

Please do post a picture of the boot you have on your car and tell us how much and from where you acquired them.
By any chance would you have any idea of how to fit reversing sensors on a W124 rear bumper? If yes, that would be of great help too. Please post about the make and model if you have details of the same.

See the picture. I've marked out what is called the bumper rail in red.
It's a picture of my old car, but this is the only picture I have of the rear of a W124.
I shall take a picture of the boot and upload it around this time tomorrow.
Reversing sensors would require you to drill four holes in the bumper for the four sensors, and the wiring would probably enter the car from the boot or under the rear seat and wind their way around to the front. I think the rear view mirror will probably be changed to one with an integrated display of sorts. I do not know entirely, as none of my cars have reversing sensors. It is also possible to fit a camera, which would probably only require one hole. Much better solution, in my opinion. But either of these options should be explored with a technician of a competent accessory store.

Try S Maganlal Stores in Mumbai. I don't have the number handy, but I have dealt with him before and he can send things via road transport.

I was thinking of installing it DIYer style .
Is it possible.

Here it is. They costed 2500 per boot, three years ago. I don't remember where I got them from though.
The boot doesn't look too good, and I've pointed out where they don't fit too well. But it is far better than having broken and cracked ones.
Having said that, the paint still shines like a mirror! You can see my feet, arms, and other cars if you look carefully. I just noticed that right now.
Now, I feel like I should probably use some dashboard polish to blacken the boots. Or maybe a light wipe of some tyre polish. Let's see what works tomorrow.
So recently my car radiator busted and I had to order a new one. Now I have bought a new radiator but the Problem its of a A/T model and I have a M/T model.
Now my mechanic say it wouldn't be a problem but it has 2 more holes than original.
Please guide should i move ahead with the swap or try to locate a manual one.
PS mods please correct the spelling of radiator in the title
I have learnt it the hard way that when you order replacement part you quote your VIN; MB has made various variety and you end up with these things
Now to your question where are the holes in the radiator??
If you can just replace it with your part supplier

I am still learning.
My 201 and 123 were imports from US and I got all my spares from the US.
( I have found few items you had ask for from Pull a Part yards grey sunshades is what is giving the most problems:)).
The holes are for the A/T oil cooler. And my mechanic say that it wouldnot cause any problem and only A/T ones are available in India. Had it searched through out India:Frustrati.
I also found a link from a Ebay which says that I use the A/T one as well

OK, time to put on new tyres. Choices are Yokohama A Drive or Continental? Any pros and cons. Sticking with stock size 195/65/15.
Thanks |
Replaced the tires last week. Went with the stock size, in Yokohama AVS Decibel. Big improvement over the Primacys, in both noise level and grip. Lets hope they last! Price installed and balanced, Rs 21000.
