The 2.2 TATA Safari clutch roughly transmits the same amount of torque (320 Nm as compared to 350 odd Nm of Endeavour).
The entire clutch assembly for Safari costs ~ 9,000 Rs.
So I was just curious to know why such a huge price difference of 25,000 Rs.?
Or is it that this clutch gets imported from outside India & hence the price diff ?

Yeah even i was curious because i read 2 months back in some magazine (Auto car i guess) that Ford had slashed prices of spare parts and the full clutch pack costed 9000 Rs somethin only..So i just need to confirm this with someone else too now if i was overcharged.

Price list of parts

Ok this is the price list I'll put the name and price according to the bill.

So the main parts are

1)Cover Clutch - 8,829.41 Rs
2)Disc Clutch - 17,045.71 Rs
3)Collar Clutch Rel - 1,654.96 Rs

Total for these parts are 27,530.08

Apart from this the bill has still come upto 38,046 Rs for other service charges like

1)Element Air cleaner - 1,079.91 Rs then oil filter and oil change including service charge adds up to the remaining amount of 38,046 Rs.

Now according to auto car India the total cost of clutch and pressure plate for Ford Endeavour is now just 9049.73 Rs(According to them prices have been slashed itseems). Now can their prices be trusted and have i been really ripped of by Ford ???.

Stanjohn, that's a whopping difference! It's not merely a couple of thousand rupees. Either ACI has been misinformed or your dealers billing you on the old prices. I strongly suggest contacting Ford and getting them to look into this pricing difference. Do update us once you have a clearer picture.

They wont change it under warranty because firstly it has done more then 37000 kms and also it is normal wear and tear so.

You toohave agreed that you have riden the clutch so this might have caused the problems.

But except for burning smell, did you not experience any problem during gear change like gear getting stuck or anything. Then may be the flywheel assembly might not have to be replaced. Thi smight also reduce the cost.

No workshop will let you watch the car getting repaired, but make sure that they give you the parts that are removed from the car. You might be able to analyse the damage yourself.

All the best

GTO:

I've registered a complaint on the Ford india website in the Customer Care section on friday..Their replies are usually lethargic and late..So i'll just wait for 2 more days and then may give a call and try to talk to some higher officials in Ford if they let me.BTW it would be very helpful if anyone knows any managers mail id presently in Ford.I've already mailed the customer care support now.

Stanjohn, if you are sure that the dealer ripped you , send a mail to the Ford MD write2md@ford.com with the details. Take a look at Ford India. Click on Ford Service->Service Pledge.
