Re: FIAT Palio 1.2 - Issues-critical

Hello Bhpians/Palio owners,

Can someone help me with this query ?

I have a 2002 Palio Elx, done 28K kms. An effort for some TLC has turned around to an extent.

The car performance had dropped marginally after the service, essentially a wash. Yes, the ECU & ignition coils were religiously covered, since the service station person had burned his fingers once. Yet there is an ounce of performance drop I am experiencing.

Got the AC serviced since the cooling was low. There is a considerable performance & FE drop when the AC is switched on. The cooling has not improved much, which I am getting it checked by the AC person.

Feel the car was better without the servicing.

Also can someone help with a mechanic who 'knows' FIATs in South Mumbai.

Regards,
Kavesh

so on the 1.2, if the cooling efficiency drops, then you need to open up the dash and clean up the ac filters. if these are clogged, they tend to overload the engine and not perform optimally as well.

Other than that - try a de-carb of the engine. it helped me in my palio. Also, check the tensions on the belts and make sure all the cylinders are firing properly.

Thanks Madan, will check the tension of the belts & firing of cylinders.

Anything else to be checked. the sensors I believe are not touched yet.

I was under the impression that behind the dash there was just a cooling coil & blower.

The engine is just done 28K kms. Is a de-carb really recommended ?

its a 2002 car right? thats why i thought it might work.
Behind the dash is the filter as well and it got really clogged up for me.
also, when was the last time you changed the oil etc? see if that helps.
