Re: My Mitsubishi Cedia's maintenance cost

Congratulations!
Could you please tell the price you paid and the general condition of the car?

Re: My Mitsubishi Cedia's maintenance cost

@ Subbiah, got it for 3.7lacs general condition was good, the usual bit of scratches here and there, but the engine is immaculate. Changed into new set of yokos- that bolstered the FE upto about 12.5 in city and 14.8 per ltr on highway, considering the 2lt engine is pretty satisfactory.

Re: My Mitsubishi Cedia's maintenance cost

This seems to be the most relevant thread for my post (esp. given the comparative information on the first page). So I got my fourth Cedia Sports servicing a few months ago and the bill seems a little steep. Wanted to get folks' thoughts on whether and how much I overpaid (as I suspect):

Approx. 16,000 km driven

Engine dressing 400
Bardahl Powertune (petrol decarb) 2,200
Bardahl engine tune-up and flush 680
Bardahl car lubrication package 870
Bardahl radiator conditioner 600
Bardahl radiator fast flush 670
Brake fluid Dot-4+ 220
Bardahl Special Injector Klene 1,020
Bardahl Oil Supplement 1,140
Engine oil 694
Coolant (pre-mix) 520

There were also some other charges (weight balancing, filters) but the ones above are those that I would appreciate any thoughts on.

With the charges mentioned above it looks more like additional or exotic servicing charges rather than regular one.
The below mentioned are additive charges which I don't think were needed.
Engine dressing 400
Bardahl Powertune (petrol decarb) 2,200
Bardahl engine tune-up and flush 680
Bardahl car lubrication package 870
Bardahl radiator conditioner 600
Bardahl radiator fast flush 670
Bardahl Special Injector Klene 1,020

Also use of Brake oil in 16000 kms is something to be checked.

Another thing what's the use of Bardahl Oil Supplement 1,140 when your oil cost is only 694 then why add additive which is twice the cost of oil?

Just one question did the service center guy took prior permission from you before using all such products and also did he explained as why these products were needed ?

Re: My Mitsubishi Cedia's maintenance cost

Mitsubishi apparently recommends this Bardahl treatment but IMO, it isn't necessary at all. Once in a while would probably be beneficial but it wasn't required for a car that's done only 16,000 kms.

The Bardahl oil supplement and injector clean are used in Delhi too but like I've said before, they were definitely not required at such low running. I cannot comment on Bardahl powertune since I haven't heard of it at Excel Motors, Delhi.

Please refer to post 394 on the following link.

I am sorry to say but the ASC has taken full advantage of you not interfering in their business. Any of these the Bardahl treatments were simply not required at 16k kms on the clock. Max you can do with Engine tuneup and flush that costs 680. Apart from this Bardahl Powertune (petrol decarb) for 2,200 and Bardahl Special Injector Klene for 1,020 should only be used every 30 to 40k kms depending on average run, I however, prefer getting injectors uninstalled and getting them cleaned on machine. Now that your car's scheduled 40k kms/2 years service is done, stick to just oil change, oil filter and air filter change for next 40k kms or 3 years. Just say no to any additive. Even engine flushing for Rs.400 is nonsense.

I got my 90k kms service done yesterday and paid only Rs.1150 to ASC which included Rs.1010 for labour and Rs140 for oil filter. I use K&N filter but the ASC filter too costs some Rs400. I gave my own synthetic oil Castrol Edge which costed Rs.2300/-.

If you are not using synthetic oil, the service bill of your next 3 service should not exceed Rs2500 including oil , Oil filter, air filter and labour.

I am sure you would want to kill the service adviser, bloody 7-8k extra, I mean I have seen advisers insisting on 1 or 2 of these but all of them. Looks like Bardhal gets ASCs quite some money.

Since, you are from delhi, I believe you visited Asian or Excel. Asian surely have gone very professional (know what I mean) lately.

Re: My Mitsubishi Cedia's maintenance cost

Thanks for the very useful feedback guys (and that link sukrit7).

Yes, it is Asian Motors in Delhi. The supervisor stated to me on the phone that even though the actual mileage of the car is low this treatment is standard for the fourth servicing which corresponds to x thousand km (30,000, 40,000, whatever) for the car.

They do give a preliminary estimate on the phone which I approve, but the problem is that I live quite far away from the service centre and have them pick up and drop off the car for servicing. In fact I said on the phone that it seems rather expensive for a servicing and they insisted that this is what needs to be done. I will have to be very firm next time about what I want done and what should be excluded.

Re: My Mitsubishi Cedia's maintenance cost

Friends

I have not used my cedia for the past 20 days. When I started the car yesterday,

- it started but not a smooth flow... it used to jump in a small manner.
- Running in first gear is OK; no pulling power in second and third gear.
- Thak .. Thak sound in the exhaust
- very mild click.. click sound in the engine also.

Tried today morning..

- Almost smooth (80%) drive in Second and Third gear.
- Thak .. Thak sound reduced considerably.
- Very mild click.. click sound in the engine

Any idea what will be the cause? Do I have to take it to Service centre or run it for some more days and see...
It used run great before 20 days; no issues at all.

My car is running on the usual motul 5W40 synthetic that the service center recommends. It works okay so I'm not complaining.

thank you for the reply and support reignofchaos.

May I also ask you if you know how much oil should be poured into the engine? The local mechs usually go by checking the dipstick which I feel is not the right way of doing things.
Why I ask this is because I plan to change the oil outside the @SS.

And would you know the kind of fog lamp bulbs used?

could you please check the owners manual and let me know?

Re: My Mitsubishi Cedia's maintenance cost

@Captain Slow: I will have to look up the manual and let you know. BTW, my car does not come with Fog lamps, so I am not sure if the user manual will have that data.
